This is the 7th edition of the CGNSW Athlete Grants which commenced in 2016. There are now 205 recipients over that period. Nominating criteria requires each athlete to be a resident of NSW and under 20 years of age. Six sports have featured grant winners in each edition β namely badminton, beach volleyball, diving, gymnastics, netball and wrestling.
Another feature of this yearβs group is two of the winners replicating their older brothers as previous grant recipients β namely Archie from swimming and Brianna from tenpin bowling.
In 2021 we introduced the Alex Fulcher Award β in honour of the former State Division Life Member and President. Previous winners are cyclist Daniel Barber, basketballer Breanna Fisk and swimmer Oscar Kreutzberger. The selection panel chose one of the 36 above-mentioned athletes to receive an additional $1,000. We are delighted to announce the 2025 Alex Fulcher Award winner is squash player Jade Reynolds from Dubbo. Jade is ranked #2 in her age group in Australia, and already in 2025 has competed internationally in the Scottish and British Junior Opens. CGNSW President Michael OβMara said βJade is a worthy winner of the award which epitomises determination, humility, fair play and traditional bush spiritβ.
Congratulations to all the wonderful athletes, and thanks to the SSOs for the nominations.
