SEPTEMBER CHALLENGE — WEEK 1 ✨🍂

Welcome to the first week of the September Challenge 🤍

While it can be so exciting to get back into a routine after summer, it’s important to nourish yourself and not restrict.

WEEK 1 is all about focusing on getting the right nutrients in & enough 🥑

- Add an extra portion of fruit or veg
- Eat a balanced breakfast
- Include healthy fats
- Prioritise protein
- Try a new plant food
- Slow down and enjoy your meals

You don’t need to change everything overnight. Small habits, repeated consistently, can make a difference over time.

Nutrition tips for healthy hormones 🌸

1. Make sure you’re eating enough to meet your body’s energy needs, don’t chronically under-fuel.

2. Prioritise protein
Aim for around 20–30g per meal to help support muscle, metabolism and satiety.

3. Don’t fear healthy fats
Include foods like olive oil, nuts, seeds, oily fish and avocado regularly.

4. Aim for 25–30g of fibre daily
Get it from beans, lentils, vegetables, fruit, wholegrains, nuts and seeds.

5. Food first, supplements second
Focus on a varied, nutrient-dense diet before reaching for supplements, more isn’t always better.

Healthy food shop staples!

🥩 Protein – chicken, eggs, Greek yogurt/Skyr, fish, lean mince.
🌾 Complex carbs – potatoes, rice, oats, pasta, wholemeal bread.
🥦 Fruit & veg – whatever I know I’ll actually eat that week, at the minute I’m loving pomegranates on salads & yogurt bowls! And kiwi fruit before bed to help with sleep.
🥑 Healthy fats – olive oil, nuts, seeds, avocado.
🫐 Fibre – fruit, veg, beans, lentils and whole grains.

If you’ve got these in the house, it’s much easier to throw together balanced meals during the week without having to think too much about it 🤍

You don’t need to buy loads of expensive “healthy” foods or completely change the way you shop overnight. Start with the basics, keep it realistic, and build from there.

Save this for your next food shop if you’re not sure where to start 🥦
