Spirit isn’t only one of animation’s most beloved horses — there is a real mustang behind the character, and he has now turned 31 years old.

The real Spirit is a Kiger Mustang stallion originally named Donner. Chosen while still young, his powerful build, wide-set eyes, flowing mane and unmistakable personality made him the perfect living model for the hero of the 2002 film *Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron*.

Animators carefully studied his appearance and natural movements, using what they observed to help create a character who could express courage, curiosity, defiance and tenderness without speaking a single word.

After the film was completed, Spirit moved to a wild horse sanctuary, where he became an ambassador for America’s mustangs. More than two decades after his animated counterpart galloped onto cinema screens, the real horse continues to live under the dedicated care of those protecting him.

At 31, Spirit remains a beautiful living connection to a film that taught an entire generation about freedom, friendship and a heart that could never be broken. ❤️🐴

We are all back to normal at Chesil Equestrian after a fabulous Summer all the children are back to school.
Thank you to all of our lovely customers for coming riding with us your loyalty is appreciated.
As the weather changes we will now be closed Monday and Tuesdays and open for the rest of the week for hacks out and lessons with Sue Chelsea and Shannon.
Going into Autumn 🍂 we will be offered morning sessions for home schooled children which will include riding, horse care and fun
From 9 - 11.30 on wed thurs and Fri each week at only £45 each session

We have a Pony Camp Champion which is Emily Talley on Margaret. Well done Emily
We have had the most amazing 3 day camp.

Final day of camp at Chesil Equestrian
Jo from Baileys kindly visited and weighted all our horses and weight scored them for us very interesting to see the variation of true weight compared to our monthly weight tape check
The girls had a lovely lunch outdoors today then off to do clear round jumping

2nd day of Pony Camp fir our lovely bunch of Girls that have Chesil Equestrian ponies on loan. The yard was buzzing this morning was jump practice ready for clear round. Then lunch then they all got ready for the photo shoot with their ponies. Off this evening for a sunset ride.

Today is the first day of Pony Camp for all our girls who have ponies on loan at Chesil Equestrian.
The plan was 2 nights camping but that has been reduced to 1 because of the weather warning tonight.
But there will be 3 days of fun food riding dressage jumping games quizzes and learning.
Making memories for ever.
