Cumbria Women’s Rugby squad are now just ONE game away from the finals, but they need support to get there.

We’re incredibly proud that SIX Kendal Wasps players were part of last weekend’s phenomenal 81–10 win over Oxfordshire 💪🖤💛

We’re calling on Kendal Rugby Club members, supporters and our wider rugby community to get behind the team and donate whatever you can to help our Cumbrian squad earn their place at Twickenham.

Not the result we wanted, falling 31–5 away at Halifax to close out the season.

It’s been a tough year for the Wasps - injuries, hard losses, and weeks where getting a full squad out felt like a battle in itself. But to finish the season with a full team, and so many new players who’ve stepped up throughout the season and thrown themselves into it (some for their very first games of rugby), says everything about this group 💛🖤

Every single player gave it their all this weekend, and we couldn’t be prouder of the effort, resilience, and commitment shown all season.

A solid performance up front from .byers while .noble made an impressive return from injury - delivering a performance full of energy and covering every blade of grass. Well done both 💛

Yesterday we celebrated International Women’s Day; a day to reflect on the strength, resilience, and spirit of women on and off the pitch. At Kendal Wasps, we are proud of the women who train, coach, and play alongside us, bringing courage, passion, and heart to everything they do. We are equally grateful to the women in the wider rugby community, from those supporting behind the scenes, whose dedication, skill, and strength help the game and our community thrive.

We also take this time to remember Poppy Atkinson, a year on from her passing. In her honour, the Wasps wore red and played with true heart and passion. We were deeply touched by choosing to wear their alternative red kit in tribute to Poppy and generously donating towards Poppy’s Memorial Fundraiser.

This International Women’s Day, we celebrate not only the women around us but also the legacy of those like Poppy, who remind us that strength comes in many forms – in joy, courage, love, and community.
