September - Crack The Code!

This month, we’re dissecting sequences to find our way on the wall. Learn how to spot the right moves for your hands and feet, plan your path, and climb smarter from start to finish.

Monday 7th

Join me in THE DEN at 7:30pm for a 30-minute warm-up and guided session on the direction of pull. This introductory workshop kicks off our Route Reading series, teaching a simple but powerful technique that can have a bigger impact on your climbing than you might expect.

At 8:00pm the session splits:

Rope Skills Drop-In (£2.00 booking fee): Join Mel for a one-hour session covering tying-in and belaying skills. Ideal if you’re learning or want to brush up on some skills that might have got a little rusty.

Bouldering Option: Not up for ropes? Head to the bouldering rooms to put your new strength skills into practice.

Slabfest is our slab-only climbing comp, where we do away with gender categories and everyone battles it out on a technical, off-vert playing field.

Big Comp is more of a traditional-style comp, but never tooooo serious. It’s a great time whether you’re gunning for the podium or just there to get stuck in, climb hard and have fun.

Ahead of the price increases on 1st October, now is the time to top up your account with climbs and enjoy future sessions at today’s prices.

You can stack as many punches on your account as you like, and with a 2-year expiry, you could be climbing well into next year with climbs bought at current rates.

We’ve also waived the membership start-up fee throughout September. Normally £20, it’s another way to make climbing for less even easier.

If you’re paying as you go, just 5 visits a month makes membership worth it. If you’re using punches, it’s only 6 visits a month before membership becomes the better deal.

And once you’re a member, you’ve unlocked unlimited climbing! Don’t let a bad session feel like a wasted entry; just come back when the psych is high again!

If you’re climbing with us year-round, depending on your use, pre-paid annual memberships are again even cheaper. You can extend your current pre-paid membership before the price rise to continue climbing at today’s prices for even longer.

Lastly, don’t forget about our junior bolt-ons. You can bolt up to two juniors onto your membership at a massively reduced rate, helping your family climb for less.

Our Student Academic Memberships are the most cost-effective way to climb with us if you’re in full-time education.

Available to buy at any time, these memberships run until 31st August, meaning the sooner you buy one, the more value you get! At just ÂŁ452 for the academic year, that works out at less than ÂŁ38 a month if you buy on 1st September!

Students fall under our concession pricing, where a pre-paid 12-month membership is £566* or £54* per month on a recurring membership. That means you’ll save £98 compared to a standard 12-month concession membership when you buy your Student Academic Membership on 1st September.

With all the usual membership benefits, including unlimited climbing, guest passes, and 10% off in our retail shops, it’s the best way to make the most of climbing with LCC as a student.

From October 1st, there will be some changes to our pricing across Lakeland Climbing Centres. Each year, like most walls across the UK, we review our prices in line with the increasing costs of running our centres.

This allows us to continue improving and maintaining our facilities, setting great climbs, and delivering the experiences you all enjoy.

We know that rising costs affect everyone, so we’re here to explain how we’ll soften the impact and allow you to climb for less during the year ahead.

There’s a lot that goes into running a climbing centre. From rent, energy and general maintenance to climbing holds, volumes and specialist insurance, our operating costs are constantly increasing.

We’re committed to making sure our customers have a great experience when they visit us, and we are constantly looking for ways to improve our facilities and the time you all spend with us.

Better centres – We’ve invested more than £500,000 into our northern centres over recent years, and we’re not stopping there.

Better climbing – New holds and volumes, regular resurfacing and replacing older equipment all help us keep the walls fresh, varied and exciting.

A stronger team – We’re investing in our staff through regular pay increases and additional training. We want climbing to be an industry where talented people can develop, progress and build a career.

We don’t want anyone to feel caught out, so we’ve built in a few ways to help ease the change:

- Top Up and Save in September.
- A new Magic Time slot at KendalWall from 7pm–10pm on Friday evenings.
- We’ve waived the membership start-up fee throughout September’s Top Up and Save.
- Regular climbers will see the smallest changes.

We know that price changes aren’t anyone’s favourite news, but we hope this helps explain the reasons behind it and the steps we’re taking to keep climbing as affordable as possible while continuing to improve what we offer.

Your support means a huge amount to us. It doesn’t just help keep our walls running, it allows us to keep investing in our climbing, our team and the wider climbing community.
