Last night, the U16s travelled over to for their 1st round cup match. Thankfully, the showers ceased, and the clouds parted just in time for the game to go ahead in beautiful sunshine at the lovely Marshfield Road. Burneside won the toss and elected to bat 1st. A steady batting display saw us post 105 for 6 in 100 balls. Settle got off to a slow start, largely due to some good bowling by Toby F & Andrew D, conceding only 4 runs in the 1st 20 deliveries. This was well backed up by the rest of the bowlers, which meant Settle struggled to keep up with the required run rate and finished on 89 for 7. Man of the match for Burneside was Luca M with figures of 2 wickets for 5 runs off 10 balls and brilliant stop at square leg to save a certain 4. We now play Sedgwick away in the next round. Congratulations to the U11s who last night became ICS Accounting Westmorland Cricket League U11's Hardball League champions. Also well done to Paul Yates and the Shireshead CC U11s team for a great game on a beautiful evening at BCC. Shirehead were the winners of the southern region of the hardball league and Burneside won the northern Region and both came together last night for the play off Final.
Burneside bowled well to restrict Shireshead to 204, in reply Burneside started cautiously, but then runs started to flow with each batting pair until the last pair added 41 runs in 4 overs with 2 mighty 6's from William G to see Burneside lift the trophy. 👏💪🏏 We now go again to try and retain the Summer Knockout Cup 🏆

What a weekend of cricket for the Burneside lads!

❌ First team get the first win in the palace shield prem
❌Nathan Chambers gets the first 5 for of the season & makes team of the week
❌ Darren Braithwaite gets 64 in his first game back
❌ Jake Bowman and Oliver Hall get there career best scores for the second team
❌ Luke Rainford gets his season of the mark for the thirds with a solid performance with the bat.

Some exciting news as we welcome Jack Cook to the club for 2025! Jack is a top order batsman and slow bowling option! Playing his cricket currently for in the Geelong cricket league Victoria.

When speaking about joining Burneside, Jack said “he is super excited for a great season, and can’t wait to get over here and meet everyone”

As a club we are looking forward to welcoming Jack, and hope he can help us be competitive in the Palace Sheild next season!

As we prepare to say goodbye to 2024, we'd like to wish all our members, volunteers, staff, players & and sponsors all the best for what promises to be a very exciting 2025 for BCC. At the end of the day, we are just a village cricket club and simply couldn't do it without the help of our army of dedicated volunteers & generous sponsors.
