A couple of our members recently spent an incredible week over Easter competing at the Lake Keepit Grand Prix—and what a journey it was! ✈️

Highlights included:
🌄 Soaring over some of the most scenic landscapes in Australia
🦅 Sharing the sky in formation with an osprey
⚡ Achieving task speeds of up to 130.4 km/h over 471 km
🥇 Securing a day win on one of the days
🌬️ Tackling tough conditions, from weak lift to strong headwinds
🦘 Even coordinating a kangaroo-clear runway landing at dusk!

An incredible week of flying, learning and achievement 👏

It was a great day at the airfield with plenty happening — lots of student flights and two Air Experience Flights taking to the skies.
We even had a few kangaroos bouncing across the runway as they moved from one paddock to another (just another day at an Australian airfield!). 🦘
A runway change kept everyone on their toes when the sea breeze rolled in during the afternoon, but the day wrapped up perfectly with drinks at the clubhouse to celebrate one of our students going solo! 🎉

The past two days have delivered some absolutely stunning weather, and our members have been making the most of it! ☀️✈️

A few of our pilots took advantage of the conditions to fly cross-country to the beautiful Grampians and back, enjoying strong climbs in the hills around Ararat along the way.

Clear skies, great lift, and big smiles all round — days like these are what flying is all about! 🙌

Rested. Recovered. Recharged.
After two days off, our members are feeling fresh, fired up, and ready to hit the start line again!

Yesterday’s and today’s tasking have been cancelled due to high winds.
Instead, a training session on Distance Handicap Tasking (DHT) was conducted.
This method adjusts task distances according to each competitor’s glider handicap. The system ensures that lower-performance gliders spend a comparable amount of time on task as higher-performance gliders, helping to reduce the disadvantage of flying in deteriorating conditions.

Day 4 at Horsham Week is here! Good luck to all our members competing today — we’re right behind you! ✈️💪🏻
