🚨COMMUNITY ALERT🚨
What if PARC were to tell Moorabool residents there is a COMMUNITY facility in Moorabool Shire, that has cost local rate payers AND Victorian tax payers around $5 million, but it’s currently under lock and key 🔐
In fact, the equestrian facilities at Bacchus Marsh Racecourse Recreation Reserve (BMRRR) have been locked since completion.
Yes, you have read that correctly
👏🏼 a community facility
👏🏼 funded by locals
👏🏼 under lock and key
But wait, there’s more
👏🏼 The only way to gain access is to pay a fee to a NOT FOR PROFIT sporting club…………..
So, when cost of living is at an all time high, a facility that should be open to the community that helped fund it, is only available for its intended purpose, at a fee 💵
A fee that doesn’t even go to Moorabool Shire Council (MSC) to fund improvements to our community or the facilities within it.
PARC have been in talks with MSC for over 2 years in hopes of becoming a user group of BMRRR to no avail.
There has been no answers to our questions and the license that contradicted other MSC documents issued to PARC, has been rescinded.
MSC are aware of the under-utilised equestrian facilities at BMRRR but are not willing to issue a realistic license that mirrors their own policies.
It’s time the community knows what is going on and be made aware that $5 million dollars of local and state funds have been utilised, by our council, that does not benefit us!!
MSC needs to activate the equestrian facilities at BMRRR to enable best possible use to ensure the community reap the benefits.
Making facilities within Moorabool Shire more accessible:
1. brings people into our community 👋🏼 hello increased tourism
2. increase in overall health and well-being within the community by encouraging outdoor activities; in turn improving community mental health
3. encourage new sporting groups in the area, allowing community spirit to flourish by way of shared interest and camaraderie………..
With the 100 acres available at BMRRR for equestrian pursuits alone, there is ample room for many user groups.
Currently there are 2 equestrian groups that call BMRRR home.
Surely MSC can do better?
