Since the early days at Geelong's Belmont Common, we have operated at a number of sites, culminating in the establishment of the soaring centre located at Bacchus Marsh Airfield, currently shared with two other clubs. This site offers a variety of soaring conditions including thermal, ridge and wave lift, while remaining within easy reach of Melbourne, Geelong and Ballarat. We operate camps for me

Sunday 28/04: Ab initio student Willow P was having fun flying the glider and performing her exercises when she noticed the field was not as close as she thought.
Lesson - strong headwind, lots of sink, and distance to the airfield equals not getting back, so Willow experienced her first out landing, 2.75 km short of RWY 01.
Willow made a really good decision in picking the paddock to land safely in.
