Fitness journey summed up in two words.

Try again.

Had a bad day? Try again.

Missed a session? Try again.

Ate off plan? Try again.

Had a good day? Try again.

Hit a PB? Try again.

Felt stronger? Try again.

Because this isn’t about one day.

It’s about what happens when you keep showing up.

The people who get results aren’t the ones who never fall off.

They’re the ones who keep getting back on.

Keep that up long enough and see where it takes you.

Not all trauma looks the same.

That’s the thing people often miss.

Trauma isn’t a competition.

It doesn’t need to be “bad enough.”
It doesn’t need to look dramatic.
And it doesn’t need to make sense to anyone else to be real.

A traumatic experience is anything that overwhelms your ability to cope.

For some, it’s one moment.

For others, it’s years of carrying stress, fear or pain.

What you see on the surface is rarely the full story.

The panic.
The anger.
The sleepless nights.
The shutting down.
The guilt.
The isolation.

Just because someone else had it different doesn’t make your experience less valid.

Healing starts when we stop comparing pain.

Understanding that is one of the first steps to reducing stigma.

One hour.

Just 4% of your day, yet that 4% can have a huge impact on the other 96%.

Exercise isn’t just about changing how you look. It’s about improving how you feel. Better mood, more energy, less stress, improved sleep, a clearer mind and a stronger body.

Time and time again, research shows that movement is one of the most powerful tools we have for supporting both our physical and mental wellbeing.

You don’t need to train for hours and you don’t need to be perfect. You just need to start.

Because that one hour in the gym, out on a walk, on a bike, in a class or wherever you choose to move could be the best investment you make in the rest of your day.

4% of your day. 96% of the benefits.

Keep moving forward.

Some clients definitely get the “ick” when they see certain exercises appear in their programme.

You know the ones.

The leg-burning supersets.
The conditioning finishers.
The exercises that make you question every life choice halfway through the set.

As a coach, it would be easy to avoid them.

But the reality is those sessions often exist for a reason.

Not to punish you.
Not to make you sore for the sake of it.
And definitely not because I enjoy watching you complain between sets.

They’re there because we only have a limited amount of time together.

My job is to get the best possible results from every session, help you move closer to your goals, and make sure you’re getting value from the investment you’ve made in yourself.

Sometimes that means working hard.
Sometimes that means sweating.
Sometimes that means a few aches the next day.

The good news?

The exercises you hate the most are often the ones that create the biggest changes.

FEAR.

Not the weights.
Not the workout.
Not the lack of knowledge.

Fear is one of the biggest reasons people never start.

“Do I fit in?”
“Am I doing this right?”
“What if I fail?”
“I’m rubbish at this.”

As a Mental Health and Exercise Coach, I’ve heard these thoughts countless times.

Fear tells you everyone is watching.
Experience teaches you they’re not.
Confidence doesn’t come before you start.
Confidence comes from starting.

Every confident person in the gym was once nervous, unsure and wondering if they belonged.

The difference?

They showed up anyway.

Fear doesn’t break you.
Facing it is where growth happens.
You don’t break.
You improve.

Keep moving forward.

It’s easy to look around and feel like everyone else is further ahead. Social media has a way of making progress look fast, effortless and straightforward when the reality is usually very different.

Most meaningful progress happens quietly. It’s the workout you completed when you didn’t feel like it. The early night instead of another hour scrolling. The walk that cleared your head after a difficult day. The decision to try again after a setback.

Physical and mental health are built in exactly the same way. Not through perfection, but through consistency. Small actions repeated over time might not feel like much in the moment, but they add up to something powerful.

Some days you’ll take big steps. Some days it might feel like you’re barely moving at all. Both still count.

Keep showing up. Keep trusting the process. Keep moving forward.

The person you want to become is built one step, one workout and one decision at a time.

Rest isn’t what stops progress.

Skipping recovery is.

The body gets stronger when it recovers, not when it’s training.

The mind works the same way.

A rest day, a walk, extra sleep or simply slowing down isn’t being lazy. It’s giving yourself the opportunity to come back better.

As coaches, we don’t tell clients to recover because it’s easier.
We tell them to recover because it’s often exactly what they need.
Recovery is part of the plan, not a break from it.

You have the power to protect your peace.

In a world that constantly demands more of your time, attention and energy, protecting your peace has become one of the most important things you can do for both your mental and physical health.

That doesn’t always mean switching off from the world. Sometimes it means choosing what deserves your energy and what doesn’t. It means setting boundaries, reducing the noise and making time for the habits that help you feel like yourself.

Exercise can be a powerful part of that. Not because every workout needs to be hard or intense, but because movement gives you time away from the pressures of daily life. Whether it’s a walk, a run, lifting weights or simply getting outside for some fresh air, it creates space for your mind as much as it does for your body.

Remember, looking after yourself isn’t selfish. Protecting your peace, managing your stress and making time for movement are all investments in your health and wellbeing.

You have the power to protect your peace. Don’t be afraid to use it.
