Reigning Funny Car Cup Champion Steve Ashdown launches Dave Bryant’s “Undertaker” Nitro Funny Car and gets pretty sideways pretty quickly after shaking the tyres hard and going in to spin. 🏁

[S03E112 - 12,000BHP UNDERTAKER NITRO FUNNY CAR]

It was so good to see the reigning Funny Car Cup Champion Steve Ashdown back out running in Funny Car at Bug Jam 39 last weekend!

This is Steve’s Round 1 Eliminations win over Kevin Chapman in the Thermoreg Motorsports Ford Mustang.

They made it all the way to the final round where they eventually lost to current points leader Kevin Kent.

Well done to everybody at Undertaker Racing!

It was super cool to stand next to this car - one of the sexiest Funny Cars out there!

Steve Ashdown returned to the track for the first time in 2026 at Bug Jam after the fire sustained at the European Finals last year.

The Reigning Series Champion wasted no time in getting back into the groove as the Undertaker Racing Reached The Final.

Whilst not in title contention this year you can be sure the team will be trying to cause major upsets at the European Finals

Where do we start?!

The body is finally back from repairs, all completed by our good friend Craig Munro @ Extreme FIBRE To carry out repairs of this extent without a mould and make it look like nothing ever happened is an incredible achievement. An excellent job, as always.

Next up, Claus Mocanu came in to complete the repair patches and wrap, and the guys at the workshop finished by replacing the side windows.

Attention then turned to the engines. The team has been busy building both the race motor and a spare while the new Stage 7 heads are being checked over and assembled.

The pistons have been machined, the racks have been built, and the guys are now fitting a rack into the motor before completing the engine build with a final nut-and-bolt check.

Finally, it’s on to cutting the discs and grinding the floaters to assemble the clutch packs—all in preparation for Bug Jam!

It’s been a huge team effort, and we’re getting closer every day. We can’t wait to get back out there and see the car where it belongs. Stay tuned… Bug Jam is getting closer! 💪🏁

Announcement

Unfortunately, it looks like 2026 won’t be our year

Due to delays with the parts container, the latest ETA now falls on the main event weekend. As a result, Dave Bryant and Steve Ashdown have made the difficult decision to withdraw from the race.

We’re obviously disappointed, but some things are out of our control.

The good news — we fully expect to be at Bug Jam and can’t wait to see you all there.

Progress update !

We’re not coming off the gas and all the labour is starting to come together now.

The Systems Box is now complete with all the safety and timing tests complete

1st motor built and in the rails… on to building the spare motors

The body has now come back from Craig Munro and what a job, Highly recommended !

Still plenty to be done, still waiting on parts but we’re here every weekend getting on with what we can.
