David Green United Reserves 1-1 Rushden FC
After a struggle all week to find a pitch and a ref we finally had the game on, credit to Rushden for helping us find a pitch too. We turned up in high spirits, everyone felt up for it and it showed on the pitch too.
The Greens got us underway and went straight for a long ball over the top but nothing really came from it. We then got the ball down and started popping it about, getting a couple of half chances but nothing major happened. Rushden then started to get a couple of passes together, then they played a ball over the top, a lack of communication between us all at the back leaves the striker on side and he slots it past Paul.
1-0 Rushden FC.
We didn’t let our heads drop after the goal and started playing some more good football, trying to play out from the back when we could and let the midfielders drive. We got a few more chances after their goal but credit to their Goalkeeper Harley who made some great saves. It felt like we weren’t going to score and it wasn’t going to be our day, until Rossy is brought down between 20/30 yards outside the box…….

1-1!!!! THE GREENS HAD EQUALISED and what a goal it was!.
The Greens on a high played some more good football, keeping the ball ticking but couldn’t manage to find a 2nd for the rest of the first half.

In to the second half and to be honest not too much happened, we had a few more chances including Rossy smashing it off the bar and Alfie thinking it was Rugby with his 3 conversions. They had a couple of chances their self but George H made a great tackle to keep it 1-1 and that pretty much summed up the second half.

MOTM - Dylan Hill
Dylan was superb, winning all his tackles, travelling with the ball and making the right passes inside and up the line, a few people could have got it but Dylan stood out for us.

We weren’t really sure who to give it too today until Alfie decided he was going to try get a few conversions/field goals whatever you want to call them😂😂
On too Hunsbury Hawks Ressies, next week which will be one of our toughest tests of pre season and will set us up nicely for the cup game the week after.💚
