🤍🖤💛❤️🤍 LLOYD RADFORD APPOINTED HEAD COACH
Newton Abbot Rugby Club is delighted to confirm that Lloyd Radford will step into the role of Head Coach for the coming season.
Lloyd is Newton Abbot through and through.
Having started playing at the club at under 16s, Lloyd went on to play Colts rugby at Torquay before returning to Newton Abbot at 17 to begin his senior rugby journey.
Since then, he has gone on to make over 300 first team appearances for the club, starting in National 3 and staying with Newton Abbot through the leagues, the highs, the challenges, the cup wins, the promotions and the tougher moments along the way.
His rugby journey also includes representing Devon throughout the age groups and into the senior side, playing for South West England at under 18s and under 20s, and captaining England Colleges.
Now, after retiring from playing, Lloyd begins the next chapter of his Newton Abbot Rugby Club story.
Lloyd is hugely passionate about the club, well respected by the players, and has been a pleasure to work with throughout his time in the senior set-up. His understanding of the group, his standards, and his connection to the club make him a brilliant fit to lead the All Whites forward.
Speaking about the role, Lloyd said:
"I am really excited for the challenge ahead. Newton Abbot Rugby Club has been a huge part of my rugby life and I am proud to now have the opportunity to help lead the senior group from the coaching side.
Following on from Pez is a big challenge, but he has left the club in a good place and there is plenty to build on. I am really looking forward to working with the players, coaches, and especially the young talent coming through from the Colts into senior rugby.
There is a strong group here, with plenty of quality and commitment, and I cannot wait to get started."
We are sure Lloyd will be itching to get on the pitch at times, but we are even more excited to see him bring that same passion, knowledge and competitiveness to the coaching side.
