2nd place in the 1st Winter OOm event East. I turned up nice an early after using all my brownie points missing a day at Butlins with the family. Some short game practise and a great range session left me quietly confident going into the round. A Birdie on the 1st is a rare start at Saunton but a great way to start and another 2 holes later got me off to a great start. A couple of sloppy 3 putts then brought me back down to earth, the greens were fantastic and I just forgot how quick they were. This was followed by some great golf which got me into the middle of the par 5 15th with 6 iron in hand standing at 4 under par. I’m afraid the wheels the came off! A miss struck iron shot (the only one if the day) left me short of the green with a tough chip, from that point forward it all unraveled a mixture of nerves and bad decisions cost me a bogey on 15, a bogey on 16 and a double on 18. Although this is a bitter pill to swallow I’ve got to take the positives that I’m getting myself into these positions. Now I’ve got to get better at finishing them off. Next week we have the alliance at Thurlestone let’s see how we do.
