Happy Birthday Colin ‘CR5’ Ross.

Colin joined Arniston in the January window of the first season, since then he’s played centre mid, winger, striker and primarily centre back.
With 42 competitive appearances, netting 16 goals, 9 assists and 4 man of the match awards Colin’s a much loved part of the squad.

With the season now officially over the players will be taking a well earned break before we start again in July. We will be looking to bolster the squad in all positions. None the less the boys that did manage to make it to the game put their all into the game under the tough circumstances.

Onto next season now, few weeks break for the boys then right back into preparation for next season.

Matchday 21 Pane in the Glass Window Cleaning Services Man of the match award went to a player in the middle of the park who instigated a lot of our dangerous attacks, dictated the play and was very calm on the ball. He controlled the game from the midfield with ease, it’s none other than John Mclean.

Arniston started the better of the 2 teams and created a lot of early chances with a few hots going close, a few not so much 👀

It took till the 18th minute for the deadlock to be broken. A good passing move starting from the backline with some intricate passing stretched the 82 midfield and defence and a perfectly placed pass from John Mclean found the feet of Sean Walker who rifled his shot into the bottom corner to give Arniston a 1-0 lead.

Unfortunately the lead wouldn’t last long when 82 stepped up and put a free kick into the top corner in the 22nd minute making it 1-1.

This gave 82 a bit of confidence but ultimately it was Arniston that seen the better of the possession but again a lot of missed chances.

Just before halftime John Mclean turns provider again as he finds Dougie Hall who evades a few tackles with close dribbling and managed to find the back of the net to give Arniston the lead just before halftime

Second half started very similar to the first with a lot of misplaced shots and Arniston dominating the possession.

In the 53rd minute a dangerous corner whipped in by Nairne wasn’t cleared by the 82 defence and a cultured touch by Dougie off the face found the waiting Jamie Rigley who put his volley into the top corner to give Arni a 2 goal lead. 3-1

We didn’t have long to wait when Nairne’s close dribbling opened up the space for Dale Shanks who beat his man, opened up the angle and fired his shot low into the corner to make it 4-1 and put Arni in the driving seat.

Not a lot happened from then on with both teams having spells of possession but in the 85th minute a long ball over the top
From 82 got the better of the Arni defence and a great touch by the 82 striker took the ball past Marc Austin in goal and a tangle of legs left an empty net for an easy tap in to make it 4-2.

Unfortunately for 82 it was too little to late as the final whistle went

Happy 28th to number 29. Jordan McCauley.

The centre mid joined us in September 2023 for season one and has since racked up 37 competitive appearances 2 goals and 5 assists, got married and had his first kid!
