Blue Diamonds v PE Panthers Fna League Game 16

Q1

Final game for Blues as we faced the top of the league table PE Panthers for the league decider. Blues started strong matching PE panthers goal for goal with a few errors from both side it was an evenly contested quarter with Panthers sliding ahead by winning to take the 1st quarter.

Q2

Blues started shaky which Panthers utilised and managed to gain a lead quite quickly but we eventually settled and started to play our own game. Once settled Blues worked hard to turn over balls and try to close the gap with a steady pace and no forced balls. Unfortunately with 1 minute 42 left on the clock PE Panthers GD Eve went down with a brutal injury 😢that stopped play for a while but Panthers , with Eves decision wanted to continue on with the game without her.

Q3

With Panthers having a 6 goal lead we knew we needed to play smart , score off our c passes and not force the ball when the pass wasn’t on. Blues worked as a unit and kept the pressure on then our GS Alana had to come off 😢 which changed our attacking end up but it didn’t slow us down. We adjusted quickly and continued with our game plan.

Q4

All or nothing going into the 4th quarter and Blues gave it everything. Great communicating all through court with players picking each other up and helping when needed. Attacking end stepped up a gear with safe passages of play and utilising the reset when needed. Defence had a hard shift the whole game but never let there foot of the gas. Amazing team effort from everyone. Not the score or end that we wanted but proud of our performance all season and still finishing on a high. Well done Blues its been incredible coaching and playing with you guys all year. Massive well done to PE Panthers on winning the match and winning the League 🥳and from everyone at Diamonds we wish Eve a speedy recovery 💙💚🖤

Blue Diamonds v Kirkcaldy Wildcats Fna League Game 15

Q1
In our penultimate game of the FNA league Blue Diamonds came up against an impressive Kirkcaldy Wildcats. From the first whistle wildcats came at us hard but after a few frantic minutes Blues found there rhythm, turned over a couple of balls and inched ahead in the score. Wildcats applied pressure all through the court forcing Blues to reset the ball and work it around until they found the shooters. Impressive work from both shooters reading off of each other and creating space to allow the easy pass.

Q2
With only 1 goal separating us we utilised the bench and implemented different combinations to build the game. 3 unforced errors on wildcats c passes in a row allowed Blues to capitalise on the turnovers and get them straight to goal creating a 6 goal lead quickly but we had to work hard to keep it.

Q3
More changes in the 3rd q and Blues continued to work hard from the first whistle. Some great connections in mid court, playing the ball short and sharp, controlling the speed and flow and ensuring safe passage up court. Defence worked impressively, denying wildcats options in the circle and picking up rebounds.

Q4
With more of a lead, Blues knew they couldn’t let up and relax. Wildcats were making us work for every ball. At times Blues revert to frantic passes which wildcats defence picked off but some were thankfully turned back over by our defence. Every combination worked tonight with incredible effort from all players. Fantastic 2nd last game Blues – Final next week against PE Panthers 😄

Green Diamonds v Gravity match report by Sarah

Last game of the season and excited to have 10 players!
We took a few minutes to settle and let gravity get a head start but focusing on safe play and some great work by Diane and Anne louise to keep the circle steady ad some great intercepts through the court we pulled it back to 2 behind. Ellie and leanne made some great drives to bring the ball up the court supported by licci and amy fighting to stall a fast and strong gravity up the court. Hannah and Hailey and Louise switched in seamlessly to bring fresh energy and we used tactical changes to try and mix of combinations which was a luxury!
We worked tirelessly and took Jens feedback on board -focused on tight marking, blocking the GA making forward drives and using our options up the court. Unfortunately they got a late run in the 3rd Q but we were starting to close the gap in Q4- almost had them!

30-35. Very close and although we didnt secure the win, a game we can all be very proud off. Well done everyone!A great team spirit to end the season.

Match report Black Diamonds v Kirkcaldy Lions

Another great team performance by the Blacks.

Our last match of the season and together as the ‘Blacks’ team. As with all other matches this season everyone gave 💯 effort and really worked hard as a team. We started off slow but by the second half we were playing really well and matching the Lions goal for goal.

Despite the loss this week we’ve had a great finish to the season. You guys have been an absolute joy to play with and a pleasure to ‘coach’. Every player always listening and wanting to improve as well as always being supportive of each other and playing their part in the team.

OPOM - Teri, rejoining the team a few months ago you’ve made such a positive impact on the team. A fantastic player who quietly gets on with the job in hand.

CPOM- Sam, another quiet player going about doing her job on court. It doesn’t go unnoticed though all those times you make yourself available for the centre pass, working well with Emma to create space and opportunities in the shooting circle not to mention putting up some fantastic shots too.

Well done all- have a fantastic weekend 🥰

Wow guys what a match!!!

I’m not going to lie, facing the top team unbeaten so far in the league was a bit daunting! However you can never underestimate the power of team work!

Qtr 1- 12-6 a strong start from us taking the first 4 goals in a row. Some brilliant netball by the Blacks, possibly the best I’ve seen us play. Connecting really well and capitalising on our turnovers.

Qtr 2 - 25-16 panthers came out fighting in the 2nd qtr applying a lot of pressure and forcing some errors from us. They had a run of goals early in the qtr however we settled and got out rhythm back and managed to get our own wee run of goals. Taking a lead of 9 into half time!

Qtr 3 - 34-25 usually the Panthers strongest qtr so we were preparing for a come back. However both teams seemed evenly matched in this quarter. We adapted to their tactical changes and kept playing out game.

Qtr 4 - unbeaten in the season so far Panthers came out fighting hard in the final quarter. The pace of the game changed and panic set in a bit causing us to make some errors. We were 3 goals up in the dying minutes of the game but Panthers aren’t top of the league by chance. They applied all their pressure and managed to sn**ch the last three goals taking us to a draw. Full time score 41-41.

An exciting game and we brought it to those Panthers no one has held them to a draw yet this season! So proud of each and every one of you, everyone played so well. Big thanks to Jessie stepping in at the last minute to help us out. 🥰

Greens vs komets - match report by Sarah (C)

Well ...after what literally feels like forever since Greens have had a match- I've got to say, I was a little nervous about tonight- this was BIG game- they beat us last time and we knew we could take them! And we did!!

We started a little shaky but with moments of great drives, circle holds and a number of turnovers we edged an early lead. Komets capitalised on some unforced errors for a late flurry to close the gap. Greens finished Q1 1 up.
Q2 A few unlucky calls and some basic errors let komets take the lead q2: 14-16.
Q3 we came back fired up and switched up a few positions. Everyone took on board Jen and Kim's advice and it was clear to see we upped our game, steadying the ship, with great pressure in defence and working the ball up the court. Their defence were strong and we needed good passes and patience to get into our shooters. We pulled it back 25-21.
Q4 pressure was on to retain our lead. With a few shaky moments and some further switch ups, we kept our heads, secured some critical goals and made some key intercepts- and gave it 110% to the end to take the win! 34-30. Well done everyone! 🫶🙌💪👌💚
