Our U20 sprinter Sophie Thomas running in the GB & Ireland U20 team achieved a historic milestone today at the Loughborough International, breaking the Scottish Under-20 Womens100m record.

Representing the GB Juniors team for the first time, the Dunfermline Track & Field Club sprinter delivered stellar performances across her events:

Event Breakdown

100m (Guest Race): She secured a commanding 1st-place victory and set a brand-new Scottish U20 Record. Her performance additionally met the qualifying standard for the World U20 Championships.

200m: She finished in 3rd place with a time of 23.41 seconds.

These were also both Club records beating previous records set by.....herself.

Brilliant again Sophie and congratulations from all at the club.

The club wished U11 coach Ian Jones a very happy retirement on what was his 86th birthday last Wednesday.

Ian has been at the club for over 25 years and is the first friendly face that new U11 athletes see when they turn up for their first night of training. There have been a number of athletes who have started with Ian and achieved National Championship and representation status.

Ian received gifts from the club presented by Brodie Ferguson, who was one on Ian's earliest athletes and Blake Sharp who is in Ian's current group.

The Club Head Coach Vicky Lister led the tributes remembering her first Coaching course which she did with Ian.

The Club thanks Ian for all his work over the years and wish him well for a long and happy retirement.

SCOTTISH U17 WOMEN’S 100m 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

SCOTTISH U20 WOMEN 4x100m 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Kishi Aremu clocked 11.69 +1.1 to land new 100m mark

Then team with Kishi, Sophie Thomas, Emma Clark and Holly Whittaker broke U20 relay record with 45.60 ( from lane one)

Both records had stood for many years.

Well done to Darcie Black and Sophie Thomas on their performances at the EAP international meeting last night at the Emirates.

Sophie qualified for the final with a run of 7.64secs which is just 0.02secs outside her PB and club record. She ran a great race in the final in 7.69secs when she was up against international class athletes.

Darcie competed in the 60m hurdles where her time of 9.28secs was her fastest for 2 years and a seasons best. It was a terrific performance by Darcie amongst such a high quality field.

Well done both on a tremendous achievement.
