The RFU has issued a statement on the start of the 2026/27 season, to summarise:
All league fixtures postponed to the 21st September due to ongoing draught.
This decision has been taken by National League Rugby (NLR), as organisers for the RFU.
To prioritise protecting player welfare, fairness of the game and giving teams chance to plan better.
However, friendly games may go ahead. Based off player readiness, local conditions and safety.
