**Furness Cavs U8’s @ the Vickerstown Summer Tournament**

Cavs played in one of their final tournaments of the season on a breezy Saturday morning at Vickerstown.

The boys were pitched in a strong group of Furness Rovers, Swarthmoor Yellows, Walney Yellows and Millom Reds. This made for some excellent, tight games across the patch, with a spread of points across the group of teams. The standard of footie was brilliant to watch 👏

After a little subdued showing at the Celtic tournament last week, the coaches encouraged the boys to give it their all, to work as a team and most importantly to have fun. The boys did exactly that, and went out and showed excellent energy levels all around the pitch, across all games. From some safe hands in goal and solid lines at the back, to energetic midfielders and pacey attacks, the Cavs boys were certainly on it, finishing top of their group ⚽️

It was a repeat fixture from last weeks Celtic tournament as Cavs played Hawcoat Park again in a semi final. It was another close game but on this occasion the Cavs boys edged it and continued onto the final where they met Walney Yellows for the second time of the tournament….

Cavs and Walney Yellows have had a number of belting games over the course of the season, full of action, entertainment…… and nerves for the coaches and parents! The final was no exception as a last minute equaliser from Walney took the game to penalties, where ultimately Cavs took the win and lifted the trophy 🏆

It was a brilliant Cavs performance throughout and the coaches and parents were super proud of the boys 🙌

Thanks to Vickerstown for hosting another great tournament. The Cavs boys have enjoyed the Vickerstown tournament over recent seasons, and this was no exception.

Thanks again to our team sponsors A&G Paving And Landscaping, pc! Lettings, The Plastic Bottles Company and CM Houghton Engineering Ltd.

A brilliant end to the season for the team….Up the Cavs! 🩵⚽️

What a month for our U10s. They spent the weekend in Blackpool at the beginning of May. Pleasure Beach and arcades in the mornings and a bit of football in the afternoons at the Sports Tours Fleetwood Town Tournament.

The lads were outstanding against some very good teams from Scotland and the North East, topping the league over the 2 day event without even conceding a goal. And they brought home a monster of a cup!

The week after it was an all Cavs final in the U11s BDJFL KO Cup in a fixture dubbed the Cavs Classico. A proud moment for the club having 2 teams representing in a final and a massive achievement for our U10s playing up a year. Both teams left everything on the pitch and with nothing between the two teams at the final whistle, the game had to be decided on penalties.
The U11s came out on top this time but still a great experience for the U10s.

This weekend was our annual Cavs 6 a side tournament and the last one for our U10s. So even more special for them this time round to finish the day as Cup winners.

A great month to end the season. And some great memories for the lads.

Thanks as always to our sponsors. Gadsden Consulting, Tarti, CSED, Wild Side Vets and The Ship Inn

A big thank you to everyone who entered our tournament today! 🩵

**Furness Cavs vs Vickerstown U8’s Match Report & Player of the Match**

The Cavs boys were up against Vickerstown for a friendly last Saturday, playing 7-a-side. With only seven available, it was an excellent opportunity to give the boys a full run out - good for their fitness and stamina, and because they played in all different positions, good for them to continue to learn what it means to play around the pitch.

It was another solid performance from the Cavs, as they adjusted into the positions and tried to keep their shape. There were some excellent passages of play and it was impressive to watch when they all work together 🙌

Vickerstown have demonstrated excellent development throughout the season and put in a great display, keeping the score line very tight. It makes for a better all round game when the score line is close and both teams keep working to try to edge the lead 👏

The teams also had a bit of fun at the end with a penalty shoot out. No scores were kept, and it was good to do pens without the pressure and pain of a tournament/knock-out! Jaxon was as solid as ever in goals, making some great saves, and there were some excellent shots across the group ⚽️🥅

Saturday’s A&G Paving And Landscaping player of the match was Arlo. It’s been brilliant to have the big man back. We’ve all missed him and everything that he brings to us all on and off the pitch. A complete rock at the back as ever, calm with the ball when under pressure, and when someone gets past him, he works his socks off to get back and tackle. We played him out on the wing a couple of times too, and he showed that classic drag back a few times to trick the opposition and fly up the wing before whipping it in towards the goal. Awesome game Arlo matey! 🏆⚽️🤩

Thanks again to our sponsors A&G Paving And Landscaping, pc! Lettings, The Plastic Bottles Company and CM.Houghton Engineering Ltd.

Well done boys - keep up the good work. Up the Cavs! 🩵⚽️

On Saturday before the start of our Junior Tournament we would like to invite all players, coaches and parents to stand and pay our respects to Paul Wright.🩵

We will hold a minute applause in memory of Paul who sadly passed away 12months ago to the day. It will take place before the 1st game kicks off at 9.15am and 13.30pm.🩵

Paul, for 30+ years, helped make the club what it is today, as a player, coach, groundsman, Senior Secretary and was a committed, hard working clubman. He is truely missed by everyone at the club. Forever in our hearts 🩵

If it wasnt for Paul the club wouldn't be what it is today and played a significant role developing the club for the future, helping to build the key foundations for all our Junior and Senior players now and in the future. 🩵
