🟢 💪🏼 HOLKER WARRIORS 5–2 MILLOM ⚽💚

💨 🌧️ On a rainy, windy and blustery September morning, Holker Warriors welcomed Millom to Rakemoor Lane for their second league fixture of the season.

The Warriors started brightly and quickly took control of the game, keeping possession, moving the ball well and creating plenty of chances. The only thing missing was the goal.

And as so often happens in football, Millom punished them.

Against the run of play, Millom broke quickly, caught the Warriors defence sleeping and managed to get through before calmly slotting the ball past Jude to make it 1–0.

Despite going behind, the Warriors remained firmly in the driving seat and continued to create chances. Then came a tactical change that completely changed the game.

Bobby moved into central midfield, with Mason pushing further forward, and the impact was almost immediate.

Bobby picked up the ball just outside the box and unleashed another thunderous strike to bring the Warriors level at 1–1. ⚽🔥

Barely a minute later, Bobby was involved again. This time he picked up possession and played a brilliant ball through to Theo, who kept his composure and slotted home to complete a fantastic turnaround.

2–1 Warriors at half-time.

The second half belonged to Holker. 🤝🏼

The Warriors dominated from start to finish, pressing Millom, moving the ball quickly and continually finding passes through to the forwards.

Eventually, the pressure told.

Theo added another two goals to complete a superb hat-trick ⚽⚽⚽, while Isaac capped off an outstanding individual performance with a fantastic strike from outside the box.

The final whistle confirmed an excellent 5–2 victory for the Warriors and another three league points after a dominant team performance.

🏆 PLAYER OF THE MATCH — ISAAC

A fully deserved award after an outstanding midfield display.

Isaac controlled the game from the very first whistle. He dictated the play, won tackles to help out his defence and played some brilliant balls through to his teammates going forward.

To top it all off, he got himself on the scoresheet with a fantastic strike from outside the box.

A brilliant all-round midfield performance.

Holker v Swarthmoor Yellows

Fantastic team effort today in the howling wind at Holker. Despite the weather it was a great game to watch. Every player should be proud of their contribution as it was a real team effort. Goals came from Rauri, Little Oakley and Leo on the day.

Key performances were from little Oakley, who put in one of his best performances in a Holker shirt. He worked tirelessly, getting back to defend and pushing forward to support his teammates.

Leo’s finishing and dribbling were brilliant today, topped off with a fantastic free kick.

🏆 🌟 However, the Man of the Match award goes to Teddy Lee. He was quick into his challenges, strong and decisive when called upon, and his distribution has improved massively over the past few weeks.

Well Done Teddy, and well done to all the boys!

🟢 🦌 Holker Stags u9's visited the DASH at Dowdales school to play against Crooklands u8's

The game was end to end throughout, and there were moments of brilliant football between both teams 👏

The Stags focused on passing combinations at training and in the 3rd quarter it really clicked

George M made some great saves in goal and distributed well to start our attacks, Freddie made some strong tackles and also chipped in with another 'Freddie special' type of goal 🤫⚽

George W smashed in a thunderbolt of a half volley that found the roof of the net 🤩 an early goal of the season candidate

Simon showed his attacking edge and created 2 goals from brilliant crosses, 1 leading to Thomas's first goal for the club ! 👏👏

It was great to have Charlie back in action and he showed some brilliant ball control to beat his defender, as well as firing a curling effort into the corner of the goal ⚽

Overall, the coaches were delighted to see more improvements on the pitch, especially the reaction to losing the ball and for all of them looking for a pass when in attack !

🏆 The NAILED DOWN ROOFING player of the week... Harry !

Harry was a rock in defence and took what we did in training straight to the pitch, he dribbled into space and looked for passes to teammates and also had some cracking attempts at goal from distance 👏 he also made some top saves when in goal too 👊

Hurricanes season starting with a bang 💥
The boys came back with some fresh new players, revitalised and ready to take the season by a storm this year!

All the Hurricanes came back with some grit and new determination to make this season their best. Presenting as bright eyed and bushy tails and ready to get down to business. Watching them mature every year is great, but this year the change in them was noticeable. They are becoming young men who are gelling together bigger and better than ever before! 👏🏻

From the moment the first went, the boys were passing between themselves and creating pockets of space on the pitch. They utilised all players and passes backwards to allow for further space and opportunity to be created.

Nathan, Teddy, Marshall and Toby all started their season’s goal sheet ⚽️ ⚽️

Defensively, we played solidly with clear communication and collaborative team work to ensure the wall couldn’t be beaten. We couldn’t have asked for more 🔥

Raffe stood out from the minute the first whistle went. He has been moving into a defensive position and he looks so comfortable there. Raffe was voted out on pitch coach at the presentation and it suits him so well! He has clear communication and direction for the whole team and the lads take on board what he is saying. He protects the danger area like his life depends on it and he never backs down for a tackle battle. He makes all the right choices at the right time and today was no exception. He gave 110% effort from start to finish. Well done Raffe! 💪🏼

O S C A R ✨🤩
Oscar’s confidence is growing more and more with every year and he has started his season strong. He founds pockets of space to shout for the ball and made the right decisions between passing and driving forward. He showed excellent resilience against the defence and was unlucky not to get a goal! Oscar was voted our silent assassin, but we are seeing him use his voice more and make his presence known. Great work Oscar! 💪🏼

🦌⚽️ STAGS ARE BACK! ⚽️🦌

Our Under 8 Stags kicked off their season against Dalton this morning, and what a fantastic morning of football it was!

The Stags had plenty of the ball and played some excellent football, moving it around nicely and showing some brilliant passing and movement. 👏⚽️

But a huge shoutout has to go to the Dalton goalkeeper, who produced an absolute worldie of a performance! Save after save, the kind of goalkeeping where everyone watching could only stand back and applaud. 🧤👏

Our Stags are developing into a very fine little team, and it’s brilliant to see them learning to play the game in the right way — pass, move, work together and, most importantly, express yourselves! 💙

And what a morning we had… posts smashed, unbelievable saves, goals scored and loads of smiles! 😁⚽️

What an absolute pleasure to watch them today in such a great game!

⚽ HOLKER WARRIORS 2–1 SWARTHMOOR REDS ⚽

🌞 On a sunny but extremely windy morning at Rakesmoor Lane, Holker Warriors welcomed Swarthmoor Reds for the opening game of the new season, with both sides looking fired up and ready to get their campaigns underway.

The game started at a frantic pace, and it was Swarthmoor who struck first. A mistake in midfield from Sonny allowed the Reds to win possession in the middle of the pitch, break through the Warriors' back line and finish brilliantly into the top right-hand corner. 🔥

0–1 Swarthmoor.

The early goal put the Warriors under pressure for a spell, but rather than letting their heads drop, they rallied together and gradually began to take control. By the middle of the first half, Holker were creating chances of their own and were unfortunate not to find the equaliser before the break.

💪🏼 The Warriors came out strongly in the second half.

🫡 The back line of Ben, Josh and Logan and Will stood firm, while new goalkeeper Jude showed exactly why he could prove to be such an important signing, producing some excellent saves when called upon.

In midfield, Isaac, Sonny and Bobby worked tirelessly, keeping possession well and giving very little away. Up front, Mason ,Theo and Tommy never stopped pressing and pushing the Swarthmoor defence backwards.

Eventually, that pressure paid off.

The ball dropped just outside the box and Bobby was there to meet it, firing a cracking finish into the bottom corner to bring the Warriors level.

1–1! GAME ON! ⚽🔥

Holker sensed their opportunity and piled on the pressure. A succession of corners followed and, eventually, one counted.

Isaac whipped a dangerous ball into the box and Theo was there to finish it off and complete the turnaround!

2–1 WARRIORS! 💚⚽

From there, the game became a real battle. Both teams went box-to-box, showing tremendous courage, determination and grit as the clock continued to tick down.

Swarthmoor threw everything at the Warriors during the final few minutes, but Holker stood strong. The defence battled for everything, Jude remained composed behind them, and the Warriors held on for a fantastic opening-day victory.

What a way to start the season.

After going behind early, the Warriors showed real character to fight their way back into the game and turn it around. Despite losing a few players from last season, this performance showed that the Warriors are still here, still fighting and still very much in the mix.

⚽️ First ever 3v3 at Holker! ⚽️

What a brilliant morning of football! 🙌

Goals galore, loads of kids running around, smiles everywhere and, most importantly, plenty of football being played and enjoyed. ❤️⚽️

Our Under 7s got stuck into their first ever 3v3, and it was fantastic to see them playing with such enthusiasm, trying new things and simply enjoying the beautiful game.

We can’t wait to watch them throughout the year — seeing them grow in confidence, develop their skills and, most importantly, fall more and more in love with football. 💙

And perhaps the best summary of the day came from one of our players:

“I scored 3 in one game, and 2 in the other, and I don’t know about the rest…”

Exactly what it should be at this age! 💚⚽️

Did we say we could maybe squeeze in one more upgrade before the season starts...? 👀

Well, why not get it done this weekend and potentially give ourselves time for another one before our Juniors take to the field on September 5th! ⚽💚

First up, the ball-stop net came down, got a bit of TLC, was cleaned up and improved, and is now back where it belongs — ready to hopefully watch the balls fly into the back of the net rather than catching them before they reach the hedge! 😂

But why stop there?

We had another couple of tonnes of aggregate dropped off this morning, so why waste time procrastinating? Let's get another one of our eye-sores sorted! 💪

The "driveway" between the car park and pitches has always been a bit of a squeaky-bum-time experience when heading down it with the tractor... 😬

Well, no more! It's now been levelled off with the aggregate, making it a much smoother and easier ride.

Little by little, we're getting there. 🛠️⚽

Eventually, we'll be able to sit back, watch the boys and girls in green take to the pitch and dazzle us with their skills!

Another job done. Another improvement made. And another step towards getting everything ready for September 5th! ✅

So far in what has to be the busiest and most productive off season it's been:

New 11v11 goals bought, build and installed for the new season ✅

AstroTurf viewing area and getting rid of the swamp ✅

New robot line marker to make sure our lines are better than old Trafford's ✅

Slope/driveway been improved and made safer ✅

Car park re-done ✅

3v3 goals made up for the new under 7s ✅

Ball stop net cleaned and maintained ✅

New green hi-vis respect marshall bibs made for the under 7s to under 10s ✅

We cannot wait for the season to begin and get back to football!

The Swamp is gone... the AstroTurf viewing area is here! 🌱➡️🟢

After 7 Fridays (and the odd weekday) of solid graft, we've finally finished our new AstroTurf viewing area... well, almost! It just needs a very good sweep and a little trim here and there.

We've shifted tonne after tonne of recycled AstroTurf, giving it another lease of life.

This astroturf has had quite the life – from the professional game in Scotland, to Barrow AFC, and now it's found its forever home at Holker Old Boys, If AstroTurf could talk, we're sure it'd have some stories to tell... but one thing's for certain – we're never moving it again! 😂

A massive thank you to DS site services ltd north west for supplying everything we needed, and to the millions and millions who helped... okay, there were only four but 4 has proven to be more than enough!! 💪

And thank goodness for the digger – without it, there'd probably be four broken spines buried somewhere around Holker!

Now the question is... can we squeeze in one more project before the season kicks off on 5th September? 🤔

The 9v9 pitch ball-stop net is looking very nervous and in dying need of a facelift.... especially with a shiny new replacement for the Farmers Field waiting in the wings.
