Yoga classes at the CWA Hall + FYG Studio. Purchase your class pass on the web. Hello, Thanks for pausing long enough to find out a little more about me. I am Shannon, the facilitator at FYG. I share the benefits of yoga, reiki and relaxation through a variety of modalities. I am a resident yoga teacher at Tranquil Yoga Mackay where I teach classes that light me up. After completing my yoga teacher training, I have spent years continuing to drive deeper into study. Whilst I hold a 500hr Certification, I have also studied Yoga Nidra under Swami Muktibodana, Yin Yoga under Bree Naomi, Restorative Yoga under Stephanie Ball-Mitchell along with trainings in Myofascial Release, Kids Yoga and Trauma informed yoga. As an eternal student, I will continue this journey to learn and discover. You can join me at Tranquil for yoga classes Monday to Friday. The path to yoga also led me to the discovery of the healing benefits of reiki. Once certified I added this modality to my offerings in the FYG Studio. Working in the space of energy, it wasn’t long before, more training led me to certify as a relaxation massage practitioner where I am able to work one on one with clients meridian lines and parasympathetic nervous system to rest and restore. I am an advocate of wellness in general and am an affiliate with the PainPod if you are chasing an option for managing pain then jump online and have a look at the many benefits to the PainPod. A little community notice (and a pricing update).
From 1 October, that pesky little card fee we've all become used to seeing at checkout is changing.

For those who love supporting local businesses, it's worth knowing that businesses will no longer be able to add a separate card surcharge to your transaction. So if you're shopping locally after October 1, keep an eye out and make sure you're not being charged one!

As for Find Your Groove…

I'll be honest, it has been helpful as a small business to pass on the card processing fee. Every dollar counts when you're self-employed.

But after a lot of thought, I've decided I 𝘄𝗼𝗻'𝘁 be increasing my prices to cover it. I'll simply absorb the cost.

I've never built Find Your Groove around making the most money. I've built it around creating a space where yoga, massage and wellbeing are accessible, and I hope my pricing has always reflected that.

I even ran my yoga class pricing through ChatGPT to ask it if my current pricing is affordable and relevant for the local market and bless it's socks it said:

"The important thing is that you're not just selling a yoga class—you're offering small, experienced, relationship-based teaching. That's worth more than a budget gym class."

And it was right.

To every person who has booked a class, trusted me with a massage, recommended me to a friend, or simply continued showing up… thank you. I genuinely value the beautiful community we've created together, and I'm looking forward to many more years of growing with you. x

One of the smallest parts of my sessions is also one of my favourites… a tiny glass of fresh lemon water. 🍋

People often think it's simply a nice refreshment, but there's a little more intention behind it.

After an hour or so of slowing down and spending time in that soft, restorative space, I don't want you rushing straight back into the world. The cool lemon water freshens the palate after being face down, feels wonderfully refreshing, encourages rehydration and gently helps bring your awareness back before you hop in the car and continue your day.

When I first started Find Your Groove, I used to make fresh kombucha for my clients! Say What?! Yup. And there was even a time there where I offered homemade kefir water! While I loved offering them, I realised something....the most sustainable acts of care are often the simplest ones.

These days, a little glass of lemon water feels just right.

And the sweetest part? The lemons come from one of my beautiful clients, Valda. Your generosity is the gift that keeps on giving.

Thank you, Valda. 💛

So that's the story behind your post treatment lemon water.

A little reminder for those of you who show up every week...

I mentioned this last week to some of my regular students and so I would like to remind every one of this.

Please don't feel disheartened if you still can't touch your toes, hold a certain pose, or do the thing you think yoga is supposed to look like.

What if yoga was never about achieving the perfect pose?

When we circle back to the origins we know that asana was never the goal, the purpose wasn’t to create impressive shapes but to prepare the body so it could sit in a meditative posture with more ease. So with this in mind;

What if it's simply about maintaining a connection with your body and preserving the mobility that allows you to live your life?

That small shift changes everything. The thought of "I come every week and I still can't touch my toes" begins to fade, and is replaced with "Wow... look how my body continues to move, bend, stretch and support me."

There is absolutely nothing wrong with having goals. If you're working towards something for sure, I'm always happy to help you get there.

But there's also something incredibly peaceful about practising from a place of connection rather than achievement.

Being able to walk, reach, bend, get up off the floor, or simply move without pain or discomfort is a privilege not everyone has.

Yoga is one of the most beautiful ways we can honour and maintain that gift.

Move because you can. Connect because you're worth it.

Meet you on the mat.
