🏆 NATIONAL CUP QUARTER-FINALS, HERE WE COME! 💙🏀

Tralee Magic 88 – 32 Mallow BC

Our U20 girls are into the last eight of the Basketball Ireland National Cup following an impressive win over Mallow BC in Mounthawk today!

Magic took control early, leading 22–9 after the first quarter and 50–15 by half-time. But just as impressive as the scoring was the way the girls played together, finishing with 23 assists, 51 rebounds, 17 steals and 10 three-pointers!

One of the biggest positives of the afternoon was seeing our younger girls getting meaningful National Cup minutes and more than holding their own alongside their more experienced teammates. Plenty to be pleased about for the future of this group!

Credit to a young Mallow BC side who competed with tenacity throughout. They kept challenging for every ball, never stopped working and showed great determination right to the final buzzer. We wish them all the best for the rest of their season.

Thanks to everyone who came out to support the girls and to our coaches, table officials and volunteers.

💙 THROWBACK THURSDAY - SHE SAID WHAT??!!

Remember when coaches could say things that would now require a safeguarding meeting, three incident reports and a compulsory online course? 😂

One of the girls in this photo is now playing with the Warriors Women's D1 National League team.

She still credits her Magic coach with teaching her one very important basketball lesson.

NEVER. BREAK. THE. LINE.

The coach's exact words?

🗣️"Break the line and I'll break your jaw!" 😳😂

Safe to say, the message stuck. She hasn't broken the line since!

But here's the thing. That same coach, who isn't in the photo, organised days out like this for her girls. No basketball, no drills. Just sunshine, food and a gang of teammates having a brilliant time together.

Fierce on the court. Brilliant to them off it.

And years later, it's those memories that stick. The friendships, the laughs and the occasional coaching instruction that definitely wouldn't make it into today's manual! 😂

Different times. 💙

👀 Can you spot our current Warriors player? And would you dare hazard a guess at who that much loved coach was? And who remembers a few other classic coaching one-liners?
