Tralee Magic (formerly Tralee Imperials) basketball club's mission is to teach, develop, organise, manage and offer youth players boys and girls as well as senior players the opportunity to learn the fundamental skills of basketball while instilling life-lessons and values such as character, team work, discipline, respect and sportsmanship. We also aim to compete both underage and at senior level

on a local, national and international level. We plan to execute these aim by creating a happy, hard working, respectable environment for parents, coaches , volunteers and players alike.

Our Academy returns this September in Mounthawk School Gym, giving our youngest players a chance to learn the game, build confidence, make friends and start their Magic journey.

U6 Boys & Girls
Thursdays from September 17th

🏀 THE MAGIC STARTS HERE

Our Tralee Magic Academy is back from 17th September for our youngest players, U6–U10.

We'll give everyone a little time to get settled back into school first… and then it’s time to get a basketball back in their hands. 💙

Why join the Magic Academy?

Some of the players now representing Magic at the highest levels started exactly here — learning to dribble, pass, shoot and, most importantly, falling in love with the game.

You don’t need any basketball experience. You don’t need to be the tallest, fastest or most confident kid in the room.

You just need to come through the door.

Tralee Magic is a volunteer-run basketball club, and with around 400 children playing across our teams, we simply cannot leave the work of running those teams to the same small group of people.
As we head into the new season, we are asking parents to become actively involved with their child’s team.

🏀 Have basketball experience? We’d love you to consider coaching.

💙 No basketball experience? We still need you. There are plenty of ways to help with teams, games and club admin.

You’ll never be asked to do something you’re not comfortable with, and every volunteer will be supported.

Please don’t leave it to someone else. A little help from more parents makes a huge difference.

David G and Leeroy have been putting our boys through their paces over the past few weeks, and both will be back to help out at next week’s Tralee Magic Summer Camp.

At seven feet tall, they’re fairly easy to spot — but it’s their massive experience, energy and love of the game that our young players will really benefit from.

The countdown is on to this year’s Tralee Magic Summer Camp — and there’s still time to book your place.

Join us in Mounthawk School Gym from 4th–7th August for four days of basketball, games and plenty of time on court with friends.

We’re delighted to have John Dowling coaching the opening day on Tuesday, 4th August, with Dara “Skinny” O’Hanlon also returning as part of the camp coaching team.

Players can expect energetic sessions with plenty of touches on the ball, new skills to learn and the chance to enjoy the game alongside old and new teammates.

For children born 2018–2021

For children born 2014–2017

The camp is open to players of all experience levels, whether they already play with Tralee Magic or are picking up a basketball for the first time.

Magic players — start putting your teams together. 🏀
Grab three friends, even if they play with another club, pick a team name and get yourselves entered for two days of 3x3 basketball right in the middle of Tralee, during the Rose Festival.
It’s quick, competitive and a brilliant chance to play with the people you usually only meet from the other side of the court.

This Wednesday morning in Mounthawk, our boys gym sessions has a lovely bit of Magic history coming full circle 💙

Leeroy is home after years of college basketball and after making his Ireland Senior Men’s debut. This week he’ll be on court with John Dowling, working with our U14–U18 boys.

Its so special when our young players get to learn from someone who came through the club, kept chasing the game, and is now back sharing it with the next group.
