MEMBERSHIP
New members are very welcome at Warrenpoint Tennis Club and membership is open to all from the age of five upwards. To become a member or make enquiries about the club activities contact the Secretary, Mary McGeown at [email protected]

Membership begins on the 1st April each year. Only fully paid members may participate in the various events run during the year. COVID 19 restrictions
Currently only members can play by order of the Newry and Mourne Council.

🎾 Warrenpoint Tennis Club Closed Tournament 2026 🎾

Warrenpoint Tennis club held their annual closed tournament over the last 2 weeks. Wild wind in the first week led to some difficult matches but glorious sunshine has prevailed over the last few days to bring a joyful end to the Tournament.

Mixed Doubles Cup Final

Caitríona Ruane & Giby Vettiankal v
Ben Laverty & Molly Grant

Giby & Caitríona (2024 Champions) started strongly in their campaign to retain their mixed doubles title by clinching the first set with apparent ease. Molly & Ben came back into the match by securing the second set in similar fashion. There were no giveaways in the final set, every ball, every score was fought for tenaciously leading to a tie breaker decider for the Championship. This was an absolute nail biter of a final and weren't we the lucky crowd to witness such a tense, exciting showdown. Thank you so much Caitríona & Giby on a superb, quality display of edge of the seat tennis! And Congratulations Ben & Molly on your win!🏆🏆👏👏

Men's Doubles Cup Final

Ben Laverty & Devin Callan v
Justin Philpott & Giby Vettiankal

The 2024 Men's Doubles Champions (Justin & Giby) were out to defend their title but their opponents Ben & Devin had other ideas. There were plenty of hard hitting shots from the baseline mixed with razor sharp reflexes at the net which made for a very entertaining doubles final.
There could only be one victorious team in the end and that was Ben & Devin, Congrats!
And well done to Justin & Giby on a fabulous display of tennis for us spectators to enjoy! Amazing!

Men's Doubles Plate Final

Derek Laverty & Eamonn Crawford v
Phil Jeffries & Colm Kernan

It was an extremely close contest between these 2 teams. Absolutely nothing separated them until the last 2 games in the final set. This match had everything, suspense, intrigue, rackets flying, several deuces, tennis balls sneaking over the net & the fence!
It was to be Derek & Eamonn's day in the end & what an ending for the spectators watching on! Thank you to Derek, Eamonn, Phil & Colm for a cracker of a final! Congrats!

Mixed Doubles Plate Final

Tony McMahon & Natalie Murphy v
Ben Hobson & Kirsty Keegan

Due to poor weather conditions last weekend our mixed doubles plate final took place in the tennis bubble in Comber. As the match progressed it became very clear that little separated these teams. In the end, Ben & Kirsty edged ahead to secure the Plate!
Congratulations to Ben & Kirsty! & Very well done to Tony & Natalie on an epic battle!

Molly Grant v Julia Sikorska

Julia dominated in the 1st set but Molly quickly turned things around to clinch the 2nd & 3rd set to claim the title! What an amazing display of tennis despite the windy & rainy conditions. Well done to you both!

It was a fast paced match on Court 1 as these two exceptional players took to the court to battle it out for the Cup. After a hard hitting thriller of a contest, Justin successfully overcame the current Title holder to clinch his first Men's Singles Cup Title in Warrenpoint! Congratulations Justin!

Margaret O'Hare & Romina Rivadeneira v Sinead Mulligan & Jill Steeples

On Court 1 we had a thriller of a contest. It was a tight first set with the current champions edging out in front, the second set looked to be in the bag but Margaret and Romina dug deep to make another thriller of a set.
Jill & Sinead successfully retain their title as Ladies Doubles Cup Champions for 2025. Congratulations to all on a fantastic match! 👏👏

Good friends Patricia White and Siobhan Rafferty were up against another good friend Derval Campbell and her partner from the Leinster league Natalie Murphy. Men's Singles Milltown Shield Final

Neil McMahon v Ethan Patterson

On Court 3 we had Neil & Ethan contest for the Milltown Shield. It was an intense match with no one giving anything away. Ethan came out victorious in the end to clinch the Shield. Massive Congratulations to both players on a fantastic final.
Brothers Ethan & Myles Patterson were both in finals today, definitely ones to watch in the future 🎾
