Here’s the beauty of health and fitness.
6 years ago I finished boxing and completely turned my back on training.
I was riddled with aches and pains, burnt out from years of overtraining, and anything fitness-related had a negative feeling attached to it.
Eventually, I found my way back.
Not through punishment, but through strength training, mobility and rebuilding myself from the ground up.
This Saturday will be the first time I’ve competed in anything since my last boxing fight.
I’m taking on a sprint triathlon (turns out you can compete without starving yourself to make weight 😱).
And it’s got me thinking…
The gym hasn’t just made me stronger.
It’s given me another opportunity to compete.
It has opened the door to experiences I probably wouldn’t have had if I’d continued down the path of doing nothing.
Most people have two choices.
Accept that declining health is just part of getting older and slowly lose strength, mobility and confidence…
Or start doing something now, so your future self still has the opportunity to run, compete, hike, play with your kids and grandkids, and keep saying yes to life.
The work you put in today buys you options tomorrow.
