Symptoms that should NOT be ignored by you or your GP

Perimenopause edition - here are just some of the symptoms I began to experience at 35 that I was told were nothing but turned out to be my hormones:

1: Crippling anxiety - the week before my period I would feel so anxious I’d have panic attacks, feel hopeless & have no drive to function normally.

THIS IS NOT NORMAL!

2. Sudden weight gain - despite being a very active PT who trains 5 x a week, eats clean & doesn’t drink I gained 2.5 stone & couldn’t shift it no matter what I did!

THIS IS NOT NORMAL!

3. Excessive hair loss - I thought I had alopecia! Every hair wash, brush, up do meant handfuls of hair falling out!

THIS IS NOT NORMAL!

4. Insomnia - awake every night like clockwork at 3am in a panic, racing heart & intrusive thoughts!

THIS IS NOT NORMAL!

5. Facial puffiness - every morning I would wake up looking like I’d had an allergic reaction. My eyes would be swollen & my face would puff out.

THIS IS NOT NORMAL!

Just to highlight a few of the symptoms that you do NOT have to just accept & live with!

I’ve been able to now lose weight, minimise my water retention, support my sleep & find ways to regulate my nervous system!

I also found who listened to me, supported me & provided me with blood tests, bioidentical HRT & knowledge to help my hormones!

It’s still an ongoing journey with ups and downs but I’ve learnt how to train, eat, supplement & manage stress to help!

And I wanna teach you all the same thing so…

I’ve overcome some of the hardest chapters I’ve ever lived but the one thing that’s given me focus and motivation is my work!

I am so grateful for all the people who have been there & given me the strength & courage to get up everyday & create this vision!

The people who have hugged me tight, checked in daily, force fed me food, made me laugh, cried with me, supported me, showed up every single day - I can never repay you for keeping me going!

Soul mates really are the friends that bring you the light when you’re lost in the dark.

It’s been a journey, & I’ve lost a few along the way… but that’s just the universe making space for the people who deserve to be on this rocket with me as we take it to the moon, take it to the stars!!

Ever wonder why millennial women all hate their bodies??

Maybe it’s because we grew up in the most toxic era of diet culture!!

Constant exposure to narratives about the way we should look!

Even pregnant celebrities being criticised for their bodies.

There was no escape for most of us so it’s no wonder we’ve all been slaves to scales, yo-yo diets and exercise fads!

We’ve been told everyday to be the smallest, skinniest versions of ourselves or we won’t be accepted in society!

Well that can f*** clean off in 2026!

Things I’ve done this month for my clients that are NOTHING to do with being their PT!

Supporting women in EVERY aspect of their lives is what being a HEALTH Coach is all about!

Anyone can write a program - in fact Chat GPT writes pretty good ones …

But actually showing up, teaching women strategies to improve their confidence, motivation, knowledge and strength in all areas of their life is where real meaningful. change happens!

Lean With Leanne is more than just workouts & meal plans!

It’s:

Teaching women how their bodies work at every chapter of their lives.

Empowering women to get the support they need to live a balanced life.

Building communities of women who support each other & have each other’s backs!

Making exercise accessible to every woman at every stage of their journey!

Providing the QUALIFIED advice to improve their health & happiness!

Shaping a new mindset that moves women away from shrinking themselves!

And we are only just getting started!!

Another post I may get cancelled for…

I am NOT a GP and I am NOT saying that synthetic HRT doesn’t have risks especially in complex individual cases…

BUT…

The narrative that HRT is dangerous when we are handed synthetic contraception prescriptions like candy without being told the risks - which are the same/similar as synthetic HRT is wild!!

Yet we are expected to take contraception for literal decades without review when we are only fertile 5-7 days of the month but men are fertile 24/7 365 days of the year!!

And then when we want access to HRT for the point of our physical and mental health we are offered ‘hormonal’ contraception instead…

Am I confused??? Or does this not make sense!!

So ladies it’s up to us to be educated on:

- contraception
- synthetic vs bodyidentical hormones
- risk vs reward
- holistic methods to support our bodies
- services that provide educated, qualified advice
