Sadly, Angela Parker, who founded our diving business in 1969 with her husband David (1934-2011), passed away on the 21st December.

Firstly, please be advised AP Diving will not now be exhibiting at the Salon de la Plongee this week and will be also closed for the day on Monday (12th January) for the funeral.

All customers requiring us to take their orders to Paris have been contacted directly, we apologise if we have affected your plans but we will endeavour to help where we can with other arrangements.

Angela’s funeral is at 2pm on Monday 12th January at Treswithian Crematorium, Camborne. A collection along with fund raising events are being held to raise money for St Julia's Hospice, Hayle, where Angela spent her last few days. Angela was 88 and managed to lead a full and active life until 10 days before the end. An active diver since the early 1960s, along with her husband David, they dived Donald Campbell's Bluebird in Coniston Lake in 1971 and were possibly the first to dive HMS Formidable in 1976, a 170ft air dive! Notably of course, Angela was the "AP" in the AP Valve, AP Valves and is still reflected in the brand AP Diving.

The factory will close for the day on Monday 12th for the funeral and wake which will be held at the Upper Deck, Falmouth Marina.

Angela's legacy lives on through her 3 sons, 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren who would like to thank all the staff at AP for their unwavering support.

AP Diving are proud to support the 2025 Pozo Azul cave expedition (Aug 9th - Sept 7th).

Described as “The Underground Everest” by Cave Diving magazine, the flooded passages of Pozo Azul (The Blue Well) in Covanera stretch far into the mountains of Northern Spain, presenting one of the greatest caving challenges of modern times.

This year’s project is now entering its final stages after months of preparation, repair and development including the installation of new decompression habitats and survey equipment.

The goal is to reach the furthest point last reached in 2023 and then to push on into the unknown, advancing the exploration and the mapping of the system. This will require 2 days of arduous travel through 5 sumps, galleries, rivers, waterfalls and constant climbs and descents. The galleries have a known development in excess of 13km with alternate aerial and submerged sections or siphons, which add up to more than 10km - the longest cave diving pe*******on in the world.

The longest siphon is more than 5km long and exceeds 70m deep. The passages vary from one-person squeezes to galleries in excess of 20m high. The Pozo Azul contains the largest submerged gallery in the world.

This year the Pozo Azul Project Team includes Jason Mallinson (a key member of the famous Thai Cave rescue of 2018) and a team of more than 20 people, mostly British and Spanish, and including top divers from the world’s cave diving elite.

A big shout out to Martin Parker and the AP team for their invaluable support during the filming of the feature film, Last Breath..

Based on a true story, Last Breath is an electrifying story about teamwork, resilience, and a race against time to do the impossible. A heart-pounding adventure that follows seasoned deep-sea divers as they battle the raging elements to rescue their crewmate trapped hundreds of feet below the ocean's surface.

AP Diving kindly provided the commercial jump jackets that helped keep the cast safe during the gruelling 5-week tank shoot at Malta Film Studios.

The underwater sequences in Last Breath were filmed using genuine saturation diving equipment and the cast had to be specially trained in saturation diving techniques and protocols. Shooting took place at night, at the bottom of a 12m deep sea-water tank.

John Garvin, the Australian based Diving Co-Ordinator on Last Breath reached out to AP Diving for advice and support.

“AP Diving stepped up to the challenge and - as always - were amazing to deal with for our specialised equipment requirements."

The film is scheduled to be released in the United States on 28 February 2025, by Focus Features with worldwide release later this year.

It stars Woody Harrelson, Simu Liu, Finn Cole,and Cliff Curtis.

The divers in the film all wear AP’s commercial diver Jump Jackets - the JJMk3 & Mk4 - which pioneered the use of buoyancy control for deep-sea sat divers over 30 years ago and have been a major contribution to commercial diver safety in the North Sea and worldwide for decades.

The Movie:

Last Breath is an upcoming feature film directed by Alex Parkinson and written by Mitchell LaFortune, Parkinson, and David Brooks. It stars Woody Harrelson, Simu Liu, Finn Cole, Cliff Curtis and Djimon Hounsou. It is a feature remake of the 2019 documentary of the same name that Parkinson also co-directed.

Last Breath relates the incredible true story of a saturation diving accident in 2021 in which diver Chris Lemons had his umbilical cable severed and became trapped around 100 metres (330ft) underwater without heat or light, and with only a small amount of breathing gas in his backup tank.

Chris Lemons, along with his colleagues Duncan Allcock and David Yuasa were carrying out repairs 100m down below the surface of the North Sea when the dynamic positioning system of their support vessel - Bibby Topaz - failed. This caused the vessel to drift in rough seas, dragging the divers away from the area they were working and eventually snapping the umbilical tether that provided Lemons with breathing gas, as well as hot water to heat his suit, power for his light and a communication link to the surface. He was left with only 5 minutes of breathable gas contained in the cylinders he wore on his back.

You will not believe what happened next… but it did.

The film is scheduled to be released in the United States and United Kingdom on 28 February 2025.

20+ years ago, we met a customer and marine biologist, Laurent Ballesta, at the Salon de la Plongee, , and identified him as someone we want to work with. I said at the time, "he is the next Jacques Cousteau, his enthusiasm for the natural World is infectious". He was already working with great brands such as Nikon, Seacam and Aqualung and from those modest beginnings his expeditions have become more ambitious, requiring help from the Blancpain Ocean Commitment Project, and several French Government agencies.
