⚽️ SEWARD CUP RESULT ⚽️

Middlezoy Athletic 1–1 Racehorse Rovers Reserves
A fantastic performance from the Athletic tonight at BCA 3G! 👏⚫️⚪️

The lads went into half-time 1–0 down, but showed great character and determination in the second half, applying plenty of pressure and refusing to give up.
With just 5 minutes remaining, the pressure finally paid off! 💪

A brilliantly delivered ball from Tyler Tomkins found the arriving James Gibbs, who kept his composure to slot the ball neatly into the back of the net! ⚽️🔥

A well-deserved equaliser and, in the end, a fair result after a strong second-half showing from the Athletic.

🏆 MAN OF THE MATCH — TRAFFORD DALLEY 🏆

A brilliant performance from Trafford, who earns tonight’s Man of the Match award! 👏🔥
Plenty of positives to take from tonight — well done lads!

Middlezoy Rovers 2–0 Torrington FC

Southwest Peninsula Premier East Division

Middlezoy Rovers 1st Team welcomed Torrington FC to the Ethan Berry Pavilion on a glorious sunny day, and the home side produced a strong performance to secure a deserved 2–0 victory and a clean sheet.

Both sides made positive starts to the contest, but it was Middlezoy who created the first clear opportunity. A superb cross found Alfie Cox, who connected well with his effort, only for the Torrington goalkeeper to read it brilliantly and deflect the ball away.

There was then the first of several contentious moments. A free kick saw Tatenda Gumbo win the second ball before being caught by the opposition skipper, but despite the apparent foul, the referee waved play on, leaving plenty bemused.

Middlezoy were not to be denied for long, however, and soon had the breakthrough.

Rhys Hayward combined well with Matt Priestly, who then fed Mitch Kearley. Kearley brilliantly nutmegged his defender before seeing his strike ricochet off another Torrington player. The ball fell kindly back to Kearley, who made no mistake with the header to put Rovers 1–0 up.

Torrington continued to pose a threat and maintained a good tempo, but the Middlezoy defence remained disciplined. Lewis Jennings, Tatenda Gumbo, Josh Prowse, Olly Murray and Rhys Hayward all worked hard to restrict the visitors to a handful of speculative efforts.

Before half-time, another promising move saw Sully McKenna pick out Marcel Pierzchlewicz making a run, but Torrington reacted quickly to block the resulting strike.

Second Half

Middlezoy continued to press after the restart.

Good interplay between McKenna and Acey Mead opened up another opportunity following a positive run from Cox, but once again the Torrington keeper produced an excellent save. Lewis Jennings then combined well to get a strike away, only for the goalkeeper to deny him at the near post.

A few minutes later, Hayward surged forward down the line before finding Mead with a darting run into the box. Again, the Torrington goalkeeper kept the ball out.

From the resulting second phase, McKenna teed up Cox, whose effort unfortunately blazed over the crossbar.

With Middlezoy creating chance after chance, a second goal was needed to reward the attacking play — and it finally arrived.

Priestly shifted the ball to McKenna, who produced a superb first-time pass through the Torrington defence. Acey Mead latched onto it, kept his composure and beat the goalkeeper to make it 2–0.

Torrington deserve credit for maintaining their work rate and continued to look for a way back into the game. They were eventually awarded a penalty in another controversial incident.

From a corner, Ed Stephens went up to clear the ball with his head, only to be shoved by a Torrington player in full view of the official. With Middlezoy players incensed and caught out the next phase saw Matsitsiro catch a Torrington player, with the referee awarding the spot kick?

Thankfully, justice was done as Olly Murray produced an excellent save to keep the visitors out and preserve Middlezoy’s clean sheet.

With the game entering its closing stages, McAdams came on for Kearley, with Louie Ward and Sammy Scott also introduced as Middlezoy looked to see the fixture out with fresh legs.

And that is exactly what they did.

Full-time: Middlezoy Rovers 2–0 Torrington FC

A deserved victory for Rovers, who created a good number of opportunities, defended resolutely when required and ultimately secured an impressive clean sheet.

🏆 Man of the Match

The Man of the Match award was jointly presented to Sully McKenna and captain Josh Prowse, with both players producing influential performances and playing key roles in the victory.

A strong team performance, two goals, a clean sheet and three points — a very good afternoon at the Ethan Berry Pavilion.

Castle Cary 1-2 Middlezoy Rovers Reserves

Our reserves traveled to castle Cary today, with a large number of the lads sunning it up in Portugal we knew it wasn’t going to be easy. A few early scares from Cary who put it a good shift but the Zoy managed to get a grip of the game in the second half.

After going 1-0 down Harry Hamblin converts from the spot to equal the game, then in the second half Dan Male finds a looping strike from 20 yards find its way over the Castle Cary keepers head to finish the game off 1-2
