Firstly, I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has taken the time to message, comment and reach out. The support and kind words have been overwhelming. It’s clear that Grasshoppers has touched the hearts of so many people within the football community, and that means more than words can say.

The decision to fold the club was never one that was taken lightly. Before reaching that point, every possible avenue was explored in an attempt to keep Grasshoppers going. Unfortunately, player commitment ultimately became the biggest challenge.

Life changes. Families grow, work commitments increase, and priorities naturally shift. That’s something I completely understand and respect. But running a football club takes commitment from everyone involved, and sadly we reached a point where it just wasn't sustainable.

For anyone who knows me personally, you'll know that if there had been any way—shape or form—to save this club, I would have been the first person to drop everything and do whatever it took. Grasshoppers has never just been a football club to me; it has been a passion, a family, and something I've poured my heart and soul into.

While this chapter has come to an end, I'm incredibly proud of everything we've achieved together and the memories we've created over the years. Thank you to every player, coach, volunteer, sponsor, supporter and friend who has been part of the journey. Grasshoppers may have folded, but the friendships, memories and impact it has had on so many people will always remain.

💚 A Message From Bridgwater Grasshoppers💚

This is one of the hardest announcements we’ve ever had to make.After years of battling together on pitches across Somerset — years filled with pride, heartbreak, laughter, and memories that will stay with us forever — Bridgwater Grasshoppers will be withdrawing from the Taunton & District Saturday League and disbanding as an independent club as we begin the process of merging with Wembdon FC.

This decision comes with heavy hearts, but also with hope. Hope that by joining forces, we can build something stronger for the future of local football. Hope that the spirit of the Grasshoppers will live on in a new chapter.

To our supporters… you have been extraordinary. Through sideways rain, freezing winds, scorching summer days, and everything in between — you stood with us. You cheered for us. You believed in us. Your loyalty has been the backbone of this club, and we will never forget it.

To the Taunton & District Saturday League — thank you for your guidance, your patience, and your support through both the good years and the difficult ones. Grassroots football survives because of people like you.

To every player who has ever pulled on the Grasshoppers shirt — past or present — thank you. You carried our badge with pride. You gave everything. You created moments that will be talked about for years to come. You are the story of this club.

This isn’t goodbye. It’s a transition. A new beginning. The colours may change, but the memories, the friendships, and the identity we built together will always remain.

Pre-season is officially underway, and what a fantastic first session back it was! The lads put in a great shift from start to finish, blowing away the cobwebs after the break and setting the standard for the weeks ahead. The effort, energy and commitment on show made it a brilliant way to kick off preparations for the new season. 👏⚽

The hard work continues from here, with training taking place every Tuesday at 7:00pm at BCA. Whether you're a returning player or looking for a new club, we'd love to see you there. New players are always welcome!

The road to the new season starts now — and we’re ready to hit the ground running.

Bridgwater Grasshoppers begin preparations for the 2026/27 campaign on Tuesday 30th June, with our opening pre‑season session taking place on the 3G at Bridgwater College Academy.

💚💜💚Our first season in the Premier Division has been one to remember. Stepping up into a higher level of competition always brings its challenges, and this year was no different. We faced strong opposition week in, week out, tested ourselves against some of the best sides around, and showed that we belong at this level.

Across the season, there have been plenty of positives to take. Strong team performances, moments of real quality, and a growing resilience have all been key. We’ve picked up important results, learned valuable lessons, and built a solid foundation to move forward from. Just as importantly, the squad spirit has been outstanding — a group committed to improving, competing, and representing the club the right way.

Of course, there’s still more to come. We know we can push further, be more consistent, and turn good performances into even better results. That’s exactly what we’re aiming for.

Looking ahead to the 2026/27 season, the focus is clear: take the next step. We want to build on this year’s experience, raise our standards again, and compete even higher up the table.

To do that, we’re looking to strengthen.
