⚽️📈 Girls Youth Teams Prepare for Junior Premier League Challenge

There is a growing sense of excitement around Bridgwater United Women FC as the club's youth section prepares to embark on a new chapter with the introduction of additional Junior Premier League teams for the 2026/27 season.

Alongside the U16 age group, new girls teams are set to compete at U12's and U13's age groups.

The move represents a significant milestone for the club's flourishing girls' pathway and underlines the continued progress being made behind the scenes to develop talented young players across Somerset and the wider region.

Following months of planning and recruitment, coaches and club officials are delighted with how the squads are shaping up ahead of what promises to be an exciting campaign. Early training sessions have showcased a blend of technical ability, determination, and enthusiasm, with players eager to test themselves against some of the strongest opposition.

The Girls Junior Premier League is widely regarded as one of the leading youth football competitions in England, providing a highly competitive environment designed to aid player development and progression. For Bridgwater United Women FC, securing places within the league is another important step in strengthening the club's reputation as a centre of excellence for girls' football.

Club coaches have been particularly encouraged by the depth of talent emerging across several age groups. New players have integrated quickly alongside established players, creating a healthy level of competition for places and a positive atmosphere throughout the youth setup.

"The excitement among the players has been incredible," said a club representative. "The opportunity to compete in the Girls Junior Premier League is something everyone has worked extremely hard towards. The standard we're seeing is very promising, and we're confident the squads will represent the club brilliantly."

Parents and supporters have also welcomed the announcement, recognising the opportunities that regular fixtures against higher-level opposition will provide. The league's reputation for high standards and player development aligns perfectly with the club's long-term vision of creating a clear pathway from grassroots football through to the senior game.

With pre-season preparations already underway, anticipation continues to build ahead of the first competitive fixtures. Coaches are focused on ensuring every player is ready for the challenge while maintaining the club's core values.

The introduction of more Junior Premier League football is expected to attract further interest from aspiring young female players across the region, with Bridgwater United Women FC continuing to establish itself as one of the area's leading destinations for girls' football.

As the countdown to the 2026/27 season begins, there is a genuine buzz around the club. If current progress is anything to go by, Bridgwater United Women FC's youth teams look well placed to make a strong impression.

📰 Bridgwater United Women FC Reserves to Join South West Women's Regional Football League for 2026/27 Season

Bridgwater United Women FC is delighted to announce that its Reserve Team is set to compete in the South West Women's Regional Football League (Southern Division) from the 2026/27 season.

The move will see the Reserves play at Tier 6 of the Women's Football Pyramid, providing a new and exciting challenge for the club's developing players while strengthening the pathway between the club's youth, reserve and first-team structures.

Having previously competed in the FA Women's National League Reserve League, the transition into the regional pyramid represents an important step in the continued growth and progression of women's football at Bridgwater United. Competing within the National League System will allow the side to play for promotion and relegation, offering meaningful competitive opportunities and helping to accelerate player development.

The club believes the move will provide an ideal environment for emerging talent to gain valuable experience against senior opposition while preparing players for potential progression into the First Team.

Bridgwater United Women FC General Manager said: "We are pleased to confirm our place in the South West Women's Regional Football League for the 2026/27 season. This represents a significant opportunity for our Reserve Team and aligns with our long-term vision of creating a strong and sustainable player pathway throughout the club.

"The move into Tier 6 football will provide our players with a highly competitive environment where results have genuine significance, while also supporting the development of the next generation of players aspiring to represent our First Team."

The club would like to thank the FA Women's National League for its support during the team's participation in the Reserve League and looks forward to beginning this new chapter within the South West Women's Regional Football League.

⚽️ 👋🏼 Opponents confirmed for the FA Women's National League

The FA Women's National League has unveiled its proposed Division One South West constitution for the upcoming season, featuring a competitive mix of established clubs and ambitious newcomers.

Among the notable additions are Gwalia United, who enter the division following relegation from the tier 3 above, while Torquay United and Wycombe Wanderers also join the league after successful campaigns at tier 5 regional level. Their arrival is expected to add fresh competition to a division already containing strong sides, which saw Bridgwater United finish third, and one place outside of the promotion spots.

The 12-team division will see clubs from across the South West and Southern England compete for promotion to the FA WNL Southern Premier Division.

With a blend of experienced National League clubs and newly promoted sides eager to make their mark, the 2026-27 Division One South West season promises to be one of the most competitive in recent years.

Proposed Division One South West Constitution:
Abingdon United, Ascot United, Bournemouth Sports, Bridgwater United, Bristol Rovers, Gwalia United, Keynsham Town, Maidenhead United, Marine Academy Plymouth, Moneyfields, Torquay United and Wycombe Wanderers.

Bridgwater United will be announcing their list of retained players soon, as the club gear up for the new season, which will see the team return back to their home town, playing just ten minutes outside of Bridgwater.

Bridgwater United Women FC Appoint New Marketing Director

Bridgwater United Women FC are delighted to announce the appointment of Neil Fellowes as the club’s new Marketing Director, strengthening the club’s off-field leadership at an exciting time in its development.

The announcement comes on the back of Bridgwater United Women’s move back into town after spending last season playing home fixtures around 25 miles away, a period that helped the club build momentum on and off the pitch before its next chapter began.

Fellowes, joins the club with a strong track record in community-focused marketing and local media. He is already the Marketing Director at local radio broadcaster, Sedgemoor fm, where he has supported the station’s growth, helped bring local businesses together, lead the Think Local First campaign, and playing a central role in community-focused content and partnerships.

His background also includes helping to develop creative local content, including a video series focused on local history, co-founding the Sedgemoor fm Sports Show with studio owner Dave Englefield, and co-founding the football podcast Sliced & Diced with Paul Coltman of Apex Soccer Group.

Importantly, this new appointment will not affect Neil’s ongoing role with Sedgemoor fm, where he will continue his work alongside his responsibilities with Bridgwater United Women FC.

Neil Fellowes said, “I’m delighted to join Bridgwater United Women FC as Marketing Director because of the club’s person first culture. The clubs desire to be an asset for the local community is also in line with my desire to add social value through my work. I’m also excited by the club’s plans for the future.”

Commercial Director Bob Buckingham said: “I am absolutely delighted that Neil has agreed to join Bridgwater United Women FC as our Marketing Director. Having known Neil for a number of years, I have always admired his passion for supporting local communities, grassroots sport and the organisations that make a positive difference to people’s lives.

“Neil has a rare ability to combine creativity, commercial awareness and relationship-building, and his work across the local business and sporting community speaks for itself.”

Buckingham added: “What particularly excites me is that his values align so closely with those of our club. We are committed to being much more than a football team; we want to be a positive force within our community and an organisation that people are proud to support.

“Women’s football is enjoying unprecedented growth and presents enormous opportunities both on and off the pitch. Neil’s experience, energy and vision will help us raise the profile of Bridgwater United Women FC, strengthen our engagement with supporters and partners, and create new commercial opportunities that will support the club’s ambitions for many years to come.

“I am personally delighted to welcome Neil to the club and look forward to working alongside him as we continue building something very special together.”

General Manager Trevor Jenkins said: "Neil will add so much value to our club and I am delighted that he will be joining us as Marketing Director. To have the expertise and experience that Neil posseses, will help to elevate our club even more.

"We are always looking at ways that we can grow and build, but we can only do this with the right people and Neil will be a crucial asset to us."
