Fitness encompasses movement quality, strength, endurance, power and coordination.

Which means there are always opportunities to grow and learn.

What have you learned this last week?

We talk about practical strength but why?

Here’s a simplified example. If you play soccer or have kids, you need to be able to bend over, rotate, move sideways and sometimes all three of those things at once (getting a sleeping 4 yr old out of the car anyone?).

Not to mention jump and leap and stretch out in sports.

Yet in the gym you only squat, use a cardio machine and bench press and wonder why you find yourself sore from activities and not the gym?

Your training should prep you for decades of activity, while squats and bench press and cardio machines help with that, many activities require us to move through 3 planes of movement (transverse, frontal and sagittal) and a lot of gym programs only take us through sagittal.

Train different, train smarter.

Doctors are telling women to start lifting weights in their 40s... but they're giving that advice about 20 years too late.

Because by then, a lot of the damage has already been done.

Strength training isn't about getting toned.
It's about keeping your bones strong enough that you're still independent at 70.

But what the doctor doesn’t tell the lady at the G.P is the reason she is at risk is because she stopped playing sport in her early 20s and only did cardio for the next 20 years.

Your body is incredibly efficient.

If you stop asking it to build muscle or strong bones, it assumes you don't need them anymore.

So it gets rid of them.

Many women have already lost around 20% of their bone density before menopause.

Then menopause can accelerate that loss dramatically over the next few years.

Strength training isn't something you start because you turned 45.

It's something you do so 45 isn't where the problems begin.

Movement quality (and virtuosity) - Not just movement safety. There’s a difference.

Quality defines movement as both safe and of better standard.
A better standard of movement allows for more virtuosity (exploration of movement)

Our everyday lives see us move in unusual patterns as we move kids around with us, carry awkward objects and explore our planet looking for adventure.

Real strength -
The kind that crosses over to sport and adventure. We don’t just move up and down, back and forth. We rotate, flex sideways and combine all these movements as we go about life. And so our training helps our clients improve that as well.

Fitness that serves in the real world. Getting good on the bike and rower are great but they lack impact. Real world fitness involves sprinting and jogging, jumping and sometimes climbing, wrestling (with kids only hopefully) and repetitive carrying jobs (like moving).

We challenge these energy systems using Crossfit methodology to create a well rounded fitness in our members.

And we educate. On all of the above. So our members don’t just understand WHAT to do in class, but why they are doing it and how to do it with quality.

If every workout leaves you wrecked (more than once per week) you're probably training wrong.

If you watch any sport, you know they play once per week and rest players if they have a multi-game sport like basketball.

This is to reduce injury risk and allow for adaptation.

You're no different.

Progress comes from adaptation, not exhaustion.

Some sessions should be hard while others build skill, strength and recovery.

That's why we operate a High-Low model at Bodicomplete.

It keepa people being able to come back for more without hurting themselves.
