Southern Beaches will be hosting a player information night lead by its new coaching group tomorrow night at Central Leagues. A great chance for past, current and future players to get and understanding of our player foucus approach to 2027. A short presentation then stick around for a b**r or dinner !

We’re excited to welcome our new supporting coaches as we continue building towards an exciting 2027 season at Southern Beaches Rugby Union.

These coaches share a special link that its important as we push for success in the coming years. Can anyone comment on what all these coaches have in common?

The team is still growing, and we are looking for expressions of interest in any roles, particularly: mangers, forwards coaches, specialist position coaches & match day trainers. If your interested contact the club!

We’ve given our website a bit of a facelift and we’re making a bigger effort to keep everyone in the loop with a regular newsletter, sharing what’s happening behind the scenes and where we’re heading as a club.

Southern Beaches Rugby Club is pleased to announce Adrian Delore and Glenn Stone as part of the coaching team for the 2027 senior season, bringing a combination of fresh ideas, experience and a strong connection to the club.

Adrian Delore – Head Coach

Adrian is a proud product of the Southern Beaches junior and senior system and brings a strong playing background, including experience in the Shute Shield and with the Newcastle Wildfires, alongside a number of high-level representative opportunities throughout his career.

Having experienced a range of professional coaching environments throughout his playing career, Adrian will bring those learnings, along with his own ideas and approach, into the Premier rugby program.

A major focus will be building a strong and connected senior program while strengthening the relationship between the junior and senior sides. The aim is to create genuine pathways for Southern Beaches players to progress through the club, develop their rugby and ultimately reach higher representative levels.

Glenn Stone – 2nd Grade Coach

After a year away from coaching, Glenn Stone returns to Southern Beaches, bringing valuable experience and a deep understanding of the club.

Glenn was captain-coach of the Third Grade side that secured the club’s recent three-peat of premierships and has also represented Newcastle Hunter. He brings particular expertise in the lineout and forward set piece, providing valuable knowledge in developing the forward pack and building strong foundations across the senior grades.

One of Glenn’s greatest strengths is his ability to identify talent and create an environment where players can develop and flourish. His return will provide important continuity, experience and support as the club looks to strengthen its senior playing group.

The 2027 coaching program will also draw on a number of former Southern Beaches players and coaches, with those who have a strong connection to the club encouraged to get involved and contribute across the senior program.

Reconnecting past players and coaches with the club is an important part of building a broader coaching network, sharing knowledge and creating an environment that supports player development across all grades.

With a focus on connection, development and sustainable success, Southern Beaches looks forward to building on the club’s foundations and creating opportunities for players to grow both on and off the field.

Southern beaches are happy to announce another junior ( & Talaileva) off to play professionally. After a number of successful years at the Hunter Wildfires Phil Talaileva has signed with Racing Club Narbonnais. Its an exciting chapter in Phils life who has just become a proud father all in the matter of a few months.

Everyone at SBRU and across the greater Newcastle rugby region will be following Phils journey as he showcases his talent in the south of France 🇫🇷

The next general meeting will be held this Wednesday 30th September at Windale Gateshead Bowling Club

SBRU will be calling home to a Rugby World Cup team in late 2027.

This is a fantastic opportunity for our club and our wider community, and we’re incredibly excited about what this could mean for Southern Beaches Rugby.

Lake Macquarie will host at least one international rugby squad in the lead-up to next year’s Men’s Rugby World Cup, creating flow-on economic, tourism and sporting benefits for the city.
