Coaches chose Kaitlyn Burns as the newest East Yard Member Spotlight! Kaitlyn had back surgery about a year ago and leading up to her surgery and through her recovery she always found a way to fit in movement and show up for herself. She contributed *SO* many meters in the C2 Challenge earlier this year. She attends CrossFit, Lifting, and Hyrox classes, is always working on new skills and made Committed Club six months in a row this year. Kaitlyn is super supportive of our community and even contributed her incredible baking skills for a fundraiser recently. Thank you for making East Yard a better place, Kaitlyn!
▫️How long have you been doing CF?
◾️ I officially started in 2023, but I’ve popped into classes here and there since 2012.
▫️What is your favorite and/or least favorite movement?
◾️Favorite is rowing and my least favorite are burpees and thrusters.
▫️In what ways has CrossFit benefitted you?
◾️I feel stronger than I ever have, especially this past year after coming back from an injury, and the combination of high-intensity workouts and strength training has noticeably improved my running. And honestly, It’s made me feel genuinely confident in what my body can do.
▫️What advice do you have for someone starting CF?
◾️Don’t take it too seriously. Have fun, get a good sweat in, and be willing to laugh at yourself. Don’t be afraid to try movements you never thought you could, just also know when to scale and meet yourself where you’re at.
▫️What do you do when you’re not at the gym?
◾️I have my own painting business but when I’m not working, I can be found baking, dog sitting, coaching kids racewalk, or spoiling my nephews.
▫️What is your idea of a dream vacation?
◾️Italy to eat buckets of pasta or an African safari to photograph all the wildlife (specifically giraffes).
