ed - the more variety in a workout, the more your body works to develop and grow stronger. We use variety in the exercise we do, the number of sets, the number of reps, and the amount of weight. Functional Movements - These are safe, everyday movements a human being does on a daily basis. For instance, squatting to sit down, bending over to pick something up, or pushing something up over head. At Maniac CrossFit we teach you how to perform these functional movements in a safe and efficient pattern. High Intensity - The more intense, the more results. Intensity is what happens when you go "hard and fast" during a workout. All intensity is relative, which relates to CrossFit style workouts when it comes to the amount of time you workout, the amount of reps you perform, and the amount of weight you lift. An individual who competes in the Olympics will have a higher level of intensity than someone who only plays high school sports. The beauty of this is that all levels of physical fitness can do CrossFit, because it is to their own personal pace. The way we approach CrossFit at our two locations differ. In South Portland are classes average 12 people, coaches guide and modify for clients as needed, keeping individuals safe and striving for their goals. In Scarborough, clients are assigned a personal coach. This personal coach works directly with the client on modifying workouts, accountability with weekly check-ins and monthly reviews.
