The coaches and fellow athletes push me to be comfortable with being uncomfortable. We celebrate success and come together to manage life’s challenges. The June Member Spotlight shines on Michele!

💥How long have you been a member of WECF? I have been a member of WECF since 2012

💥Why did you choose WECF? I chose WECF initially because I Loved the look one of my friends had who worked out at West End. I went in for a trial class and loved it. Up to that point, I didnt know what CF was. I aways tell friends, it’s like having my own personal trainer every day. Jen and Tim always care about proper form. The atmosphere was fun and so welcoming. The community of athletes is something I enjoy being around. Every one motivates you to do better each and every workout.

💥What WOD or movement do you love to hate? I love to hate the bike. I stayed away from it for so long that when I put it back into my routine, It made me realize why I stayed away. I love the aerobic feel it gives but those calories just move so slow!!

💥What WOD or movement do you always show up for? Any WOD that has running in it, is always a must GO for me. I truly love running and always enjoy workouts which include it .

💥What is your most proud gym moment?
Murph has to be my most proud moment. I have 10 years of Murph tank tops to prove it. Sadly, the first time I did Murph and Last year, my arms swelled so bad so I’m taking a break this year. The workout has actually brought me to tears watching every one work so hard. It’s a tradition, i look forward to every year. To honor Michael Murphy with his favorite workout is truly humbling. His sacrafice keeps me going.

💥What is a little-known fact about you?
I absolutely LOVE chocolate. Maybe thats why I work out so I can eat the things I love without guilt

💥Looking back over the years at WECF what has changed about you? WECF is a place i call HOME. My day is not complete unless it begins with CF. THe coaches and the people I have met have made me a better person. I feel more confident and strong both physically and mentally because of the community of people I’m surrounded by, every day. Truly a gift to be able to move and help my body age appropriately.

Strength training plays an important role in our lives at every age by making us stronger, more flexible and decreasing our risk of injury and falls. It becomes even more important as we approach our thirties. Without the benefit of regular strength training, we can expect muscle mass to decrease anywhere between 3-8% per decade after the age of 30 and even more after the age of 60.

We program a different workout every day mixing strength, cardio, flexibility and balance so that you have a complete fitness program that challenges you appropriately.

“I’m 40 years old and have never lifted weights. I can’t start now.” We hear this a lot. Many of our members come to us with no lifting experience. Strength training is important. Strength training with good form is a must. Our experienced coaches will guide you through proper technique on weighted movements, keeping you safe. You’ll learn new skills (good for your brain!) and build confidence with every rep.
