Being sore is not a performance metric.
Or a targeted fat loss metric…
Or a toning metric…
Sometimes soreness means you trained hard. Sometimes it means you tried something new, did more volume, slept poorly, or simply haven’t done lunges in a while.
A better question: Are you getting stronger, moving better, recovering well, and building progress you can actually repeat?
Because being unable to sit on a toilet for four days is a workout symptom but not necessarily an adaptation or an indication that you’re progressing.
