Pete’s Post #12!
Peter Morrell has been helping people find the path to great health for over 30 years. No matter how simple or serious the condition, there is a holistic answer to feeling better.
Blood Pressure is an important factor in maintaining your overall great health. High blood pressure can put a strain on not only the blood vessels, but on various organs in the body as well.
In order to maintain healthy blood pressure levels, you must be able to monitor your readings at home. Having a doctor take your pressure once or twice a year is not giving you an accurate picture of what your readings generally are over the course of time. Many people have “white coat syndrome”, or the typical anxiety of being evaluated at the doctor’s office. By taking readings at home, you can establish a more accurate representation of what your “real” numbers are. Today, the home blood pressure monitors are much better than years ago, and they are generally inexpensive. Talk to your local pharmacist about what unit might be right for you. Then try to take your pressure once a day, or at least 3 times a week. You should find a time, at least 1 hour after waking from sleep, when you can sit comfortably in a chair for 5 to 10 minutes in a relaxed state. Take the pressure according to the machine instructions. Then record the date and the reading.
120 over 70 is the current medical goal, but readings will always vary slightly so don’t get upset when numbers rise on occasion. We are all different, and what’s normal for me, may not be normal for you. When I was a young man, and in the best physical shape, my blood pressure was consistently 132 over 80. Some might consider that number high. It was my normal.
Now, how do we reduce and maintain healthy blood pressure levels? The first answer would be… all the usual, common sense things. That means, a clean diet, exercise, good quality sleep for 6 -8 hours and stress reducing activities. Supplements can be a big help. If stress is a big factor in your high blood pressure, taking Relora and Theanine would be a great start. If kidney function is part of your hypertension puzzle, try asparagus extract to help balance the kidneys. There are combination formulas that have a number of different ingredients to lower pressure. I like the Kyolic Aged Garlic Blood Pressure Formula #109. Over many years of advising clients regarding blood pressure, It seems to consistently work well.
There are many options, and no single supplement will be the right answer for everyone. If your blood pressure has been too high for too long, consider an appointment with a Holistic Practitioner. An evaluation can determine probable reasons why the blood pressure is high, and work with you to find the best path to the right solutions.
