Signage has been installed along the driveway to SSC describing the history and importance of the American Chestnut Tree along with the restoration efforts of The American Chestnut Foundation. Behind the signs you can see 4 of the RGS (recurrent genomic selection) hybrid American Chestnut Trees growing in our front yard. To date we have planted a quantity of 92 trees in 3 years with a partnership between us and students from Bristol Aggie Environmental Engineering program. Thank you to the MA/RI Chapter of The American Chestnut Foundation for the trees we plant and the wonderful signage! The public is welcome to stop by anytime to view the informative signage. All of the other trees are on the private property of the club. Contact us if you would like to learn more.

We owe a huge Thank You to Ms. Canuel and her 2026 Class of Environmental Engineering Seniors at Bristol Aggie for working with us and the MA/RI Chapter of The American Chestnut Foundation . This class came to SSC last fall and spent a few days working hard clearing up after forestry plan cutting to make room to plant American Chestnut Trees. This Spring the class grew trees from seed provided by the chapter and these seniors spent the last 2 days planting these trees on the club property as part of our restoration efforts.

We delivered seed from the MA/RI Chapter of The American Chestnut Foundation to Bristol Aggie last week. We are so grateful for the work the Environmental Conservation program does for the restoration of the American Chestnut Tree. Some of these trees will be planted by this class of seniors this Spring here at the club and others are going out to a few other Sportsman's Clubs in the area to get them involved.
