Mindfulness is something I decided I wanted to learn and bring into my classroom back when I was teaching middle school.
I spent 2 years studying it and practicing alongside other educators. The first thing I learned was how to practice mindfulness. The second thing I learned was how to share it with others particularly in a classroom setting.
But I tell you what, more than any other practice I have studied I feel like this one has benefited me the most personally at this stage of my life being a mom at home with two very young children. It has taught me how to be present for what is and how to anchor into the present moment no matter if my mind deems what is happening as favorable or less than desirable.
Mindfulness is not a sexy practice, yet it is one that can help you be able to be present for what actually is happening and release any need or itch to zone out when moments get difficult or boring.
