Hello:
It was at least 20 years ago when we bought our "Rebound Air"-- For the
last 5 years or so it hasn't been used much.
But now-- at 82 years of age-- I have a health challenge that perhaps only the Rebound Air-- Delux model--
can heal.
Why do I say this? because a bit more than 20 years ago == in 2005--, I was diagnosed with 'neutropenia"-- My lack of neutrophils kept
increasing until my family doctor thought I had some horrible cancer...
I was sent to a well-known hematologist/ontologist (Austin, Texas), who was
ready to start me on 'Neupogen" to artificially stimulate white cells.
I told the hematologist /oncologist I wanted to wait. He predicted waiting would make everything much worse.
It took me 2 months to find the answer.
--- I began with online research .
Online research was--and still is--a wonderful past-time for me. --Like a sleuth I looked for alternative ways of healing
this problem. 8-10 hrs daily, I researched. Sometimes I would be up way past midnight.
I kept reading how a rebounder was/is valued for stimulating one's immune system. There are so many ways one's immune
system can be assaulted-- would a rebounder help me?
I looked deeper.
with some fortunate guessing & extrapolation, I decided that a rebounder was worth a try.
I was so weak, by the time your Rebound Air arrived that I couldn't stand up on it. Instead, I sat on the edge and my husband
got on & bounced up & down, which caused me to bounce slightly. After about 10 days, several 5 min sessions per day. I was able
to stand and bounce a little (I used the safety bar that one can order). Ultimately, I was able to bounce without the safety bar.
I did 2-3 sessions daily, 15 mins each session.
THEN I was ready to return to the oncologist/hematologist. (In the parking lot, before running over to the medical building
and up into the doctor's office where the lab could take my blood..my husband and I pulled out the Rebound Air from our mini-van
set it up--yes, right there in the parking lot-- and I did a 15 min, fierce rebounding session.
Then I skidded into the lab, had the tech take my blood. Husband and I were then taken to exam room. The oncologist/hematologist
looked at blood results (he had his own clinic/lab right on premises).. He walked in with "Wow, I don't know how this happened! Your
blood count shows no neutropenia."
I told him how I did it. I encouraged him to get his patients to try this too. (He didn't take notes--I doubt he shared this approach
with his patients).
Yet, he was greatly impressed with how fast my extreme neutropenia disappeared.
-- So
now here I am with the problem again. But why not? I'm the caregiver for my husband and for our disabled son (also with cancer plus
other challenges). I don't get enough sleep. I've lost 40 lbs. .. I am so grateful we didn't get rid of our rebound Air.
At this point today, I've done 2 sessions on it. (I can only do 7 mins at a time..but I trust that I'll build up to longer)
QUESTION:
How can I tell if the Rebounder is too old?? ..I don't want it to rip or somehow toss me on the floor.
Thank you for reading all of this.
