💪 STRENGTH TRAINING IS A LOT LIKE FINANCIAL INVESTING. 📈💰
And no, I’m not talking about investing in a healthier version of yourself. That’s obvious.
I’m talking about RETURN ON INVESTMENT.
When I sit down with my financial advisor, I want to know one thing:
What is the SMARTEST investment strategy that will produce the greatest return with the least amount of investment necessary?
I’m not interested in what’s popular. I’m not interested in what everyone else is doing. And I certainly don’t want to throw money at something just because it makes me FEEL like I’m investing.
I WANT RESULTS.
💥 NOW APPLY THAT SAME THINKING TO STRENGTH TRAINING.
I see people spending HOURS in the gym doing all kinds of workouts, sweating like crazy, exhausting themselves, and celebrating how hard they worked.
But here’s the problem…
❌ They’re not getting stronger.
❌ They’re not building significant muscle.
❌ They’re not seeing body recomposition.
❌ They’re not following progressive overload.
❌ They’re confusing exhaustion with effectiveness.
And here’s the kicker…
SOME OF THEM ARE DOING WAY MORE THAN ME AND GETTING FAR LESS IN RETURN.
Why? Because MORE exercise doesn’t automatically mean BETTER results.
You cannot expect optimal results from random workouts, constantly changing exercises, mixing cardio and weights into endless circuits, or following some trendy program your trainer invented to keep you entertained.
🔥 SIDE NOTE ABOUT PERSONAL TRAINERS:
If your trainer takes pride in absolutely DESTROYING you every session, you might need another trainer.
A great trainer should be like a great financial advisor.
Their job isn’t to make you miserable.
Their job is to understand exercise science, build an effective program, manage fatigue, track progress, and help you achieve the greatest return on your investment.
And here’s where I’m probably going to lose some of you…
OPTIMAL STRENGTH TRAINING IS OFTEN BORING. 😂
It’s the same fundamental movement patterns, repeated consistently, with intelligent variations, appropriate volume, progressive overload, and sufficient recovery.
Week after week. Month after month. Year after year.
You don’t need to reinvent the wheel.
You need to make the wheel WORK.
💰 Imagine meeting with your financial advisor after a year of investing and instead of showing you your returns, he asks:
“Well, did you have fun investing?”
WHO CARES?! SHOW ME THE RESULTS! 😂
The same principle applies to your training.
📈 Are you getting stronger?
💪 Are you building muscle and improving body composition?
🫀 Are you improving your conditioning?
These are measurable outcomes, not feelings.
And yes, you can accomplish all three without living in the gym. You just need the right programming, nutrition, recovery, and consistency.
STOP CONFUSING HOW HARD YOU WORK WITH HOW EFFECTIVELY YOU TRAIN.
Your time is valuable. Your energy is valuable. Your body is valuable.
TRAIN SMARTER. MEASURE RESULTS. MAXIMIZE YOUR RETURN.
And if your current program isn’t producing measurable progress, it’s time to reconsider your investment strategy.
