The 2026 Mid-Atlantic Karate Championships are this Saturday, May 16th at the Hampton University Holland Hall Gym. This event is open to all students whether you are a beginner or an advanced black belt. You can still pre-register at www.tournamentinabox.com. Doors open at 8 a.m. and the competition starts at 10 a.m. For those not competing, you are encouraged to come and watch. You can learn a lot from just watching, not just about how to compete, but how to perform your Karate even better.
Attention parents and students. We need you to help make this tournament a success. Every tournament, from the smallest to the national championships, depends greatly on the volunteers to help run the event. We need your help with registration, concessions, security, timekeeping, scorekeeping, staging and much more. You will receive free entry into the event, a free lunch and the best seat in the house…right in front of the ring. Now, you may be thinking, I’ve never done that before. Well, we are going to teach you how it is done. We are having a volunteer training class this Wednesday, May 12th at 7:00pm here at the dojo. You will learn a lot about how to stage athletes, keep time of the matches, scorekeeping and much more, along with a working knowledge of some of the rules of competition. Please sign up on the bulletin board if you would like to help and we will see you at the volunteer training class on Wednesday.
