What a weekend at Hampton Downs competing in Round 1 of the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing New Zealand Trophy Series ๐ Definitely a weekend I wonโt forget as I made my debut in the series with Mackenzie Motorsport ๐
We started the weekend off strong, setting the fastest laps all through practice before putting the car on pole position by just 0.006 of a second โฑ๏ธ๐ฅ
Race 1 didnโt have the best start, but I had an awesome battle with Nathan and Ajay all race long. Huge congrats to Nathan Grammer Racing on taking his first race win ๐
Race 2 on Sunday morning had me starting from pole again after setting the fastest lap in Race 1. Once again I didnโt get the best launch and dropped one position off the start, but had another great battle with Ajay who managed to hold me off ๐ค
Race 3 was the reverse top 5, so I started P4. I got a great start, made one pass early and then pulled off another move around the outside which was pretty cool ๐
I was then chasing down Toby and felt like we definitely had the pace to fight for the win, but unfortunately the safety car came out and we finished under yellow with P2 ๐ง๐ฅ
Overall, still an awesome weekend and Iโm super happy to come away with strong results, even though Iโm gutted not to get that first race win yet.
