In the Fat Bastard Pies Div 3 competition Waihopai had a much improved performance against Nebulite Southland Old Boys this week. We were competitive for a large part of the game. Defensively both teams had lapses leading to an 8-6 scoreline in Old Boys favour. Player of the day was Jonesy who found the back of the net 3 times.

This week at Fun Football on the ILT Football Turf we opted for smaller teams, generally with only three aside playing against the usual four, but we held our own with several wins. This kept all players involved. One interesting comment heard from a six yar old that needed his boot laces retied several times during the game, just after every goal he scored. The coach noticed him sliding along on his knees in celebration. When it was pointed out that this was untying his laces, he said, but that's what Messi does!

It was a tough game for the Waihopai div 3 side in a very physical battle with Level One Queens Park AFC in the Fat Bastard Pies Div 3 competition. Lyall was the stand out player, his work rate held the midfield together. Unfortunately, despite his effort we lost 6-1. A great goal by Regan, and a very close one off the post by Matt.

Fun Footballers had a much warmer day for it this week with lots of goals being scored. Well done. Reminder, no Junior Football next Saturday, Kings Birthday Weekend.
