A match-grade barrel is only as good as the action it’s fitted to.

This Re*****on 700 came in for the full True-Flite accurising treatment, and once we had it set up in the lathe the factory machining told the story pretty quickly.

The action was indicated from the bolt raceway, then the critical surfaces were machined square and concentric to it.

The before and after speaks for itself.

There’s no point fitting a quality barrel if the action isn’t giving it a true, square foundation to work from.

Square. Concentric. True.

Most of this work disappears once the rifle is assembled — but it’s exactly the sort of detail that matters downrange.

THIS IS WHY CONCENTRICITY MATTERS 👀

There’s a reason we contour every True-Flite barrel between centres.

By doing it this way, we keep the outside contour running true to the bore — typically within 0.04mm.

Why does that matter?

Because when it comes time to machine your muzzle threads, everything needs to be properly concentric with the bore.

If the contour isn’t running true, you can end up with what you’ll see at the end of this reel… 👀

That barrel has over 1mm of runout between the bore and the outside contour.

1mm might not sound like much, but when you’re machining precision muzzle threads, it makes a massive difference.

It’s one of those details most people will never see — but it’s exactly the sort of detail that matters when you’re building a precision rifle barrel.

The uni is clean, simple and all business. The braided finish has a bit more going on and really catches the light.

THE KING OF LONG RANGE 👑

Got a big red stag sitting out there just a bit too far for the Rem Mag or PRC?

Time to pull out the big hammer — .338 Lapua Magnum.

This one’s built on a Weatherby Mk5 action with one of our 26” fluted Ultra Match barrels, sending 300gr Berger Hybrids downrange and comfortably holding sub-½ MOA groups.

It’s big, it’s loud, it burns a fair whack of powder… but when you need to reach out and give something a proper nudge, the old .338 Lapua is bloody hard to beat.

There’s a reason it’s still the king. 👑

Introducing AeroCell

This style of barrel fluting isn’t new, and we’re not claiming it is.

What we’ve done is develop our own take on it — with a pattern and geometry that suits the way we manufacture barrels at True-Flite.

AeroCell uses smooth radiused pockets and flowing transitions to remove weight, increase surface area and give the barrel a distinctive look without going over the top.

Pictured here are:

• 26” × 1.250” parallel blank - Take a guess on the weight removed on this!
• 24” Re*****on Varmint profile — with 231 grams removed through the fluting alone

It’s a different option for those wanting something that stands out from traditional straight or spiral fluting, while still keeping the machining clean and purposeful.

One rifle, two very capable setups.

We manufactured a pair of Ultra Match 6.5 mm barrels for this Bl**er R8, each fitted with an AKILA barrel extension — a 28” 6.5 Creedmoor for efficient, consistent performance and a 32” 6.5-284 for extra pace when the targets get a long way out. Both fitted with A-TEC AS PRS suppressor
