🦁❤Apologies. Reposting this years Midlands Lionhearts Squad. 35 players across 9 teams from the Midlands representing their clubs.

The training squad features teams across the Premiership and Division 1. It is fantastic to see so many clubs send players to trial. Big thank you to everyone taking part. We look forward to seeing what the trials will bring.

🦁❤️Midlands Lionhearts have a new look coaching team this year supported by experienced Team Manager Martin Foskett who has committed to the programme for his 4th year.

Dan Robinson joins as Head Coach alongside Assistant Coaches Phil Banks (Banksy) and Sherwood Wolf Hunt ARLFC Glen Holt.

After a successful year Telford Raiders RLFC Head Coach Dan keenly put his hand up to coaching the Midlands Lionhearts. Last year saw Dan play for both the Midlands and Southern England Lionhearts Rugby League . With a long extensive playing career, Dan brings his enthusiasm and a dynamic coaching style and is openly excited about this year's players pathway.

Phil Banks spoke about his background

"Im Banksy, and I'll be working alongside Dan and Glen as part of the coaching team. I don't expect many of you will know me, but I currently coach within the Leeds Rhinos Pathways programme and Scotland Rugby League U19s Academy.

Glen Holt brings a further dynamic as he Join's with a long history with Sherwood Wolf Hunt ARLFC as Head Coach. He has worked with the senior mens Ireland Squad in the 2021 World Cup and was Irelands University Head Coach in 2023.

Martin Foskett retains his place as Team Manager and is throughly looking forward to another year supporting the growing talent in the Midlands. Martin brings his experience of being team manager for Hindley RLFC seniors as well the Telford Raiders RLFC. He is also a qualified coach and match official.

The coaching team have been preparing behind the scenes and are looking forward to announcing this years training squad. Clubs across the Midlands have nominated their players and are raring to get started.

With the Midlands Representative Trials just a few weeks away, this is what players will have the chance to be selected for. 🦁🏉

A huge amount of work has gone on to create a pathway that supports, develops and recognises talent across clubs and players throughout the South of England, giving more players the opportunity to progress and represent the Southern England Lionhearts.🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

The pathway is a fantastic opportunity for talented players to take the next step, test themselves at representative level and proudly wear the Lionhearts shirt.

Following the success of the 2025 South of England Men’s performance pathway, the RFL has announced an expanded programme for 2026.

All Midlands clubs should have now received information regarding our up and coming Midlands Lionhearts Representative trial sessions that decide who will play in this year's 2026 Carnival. Each club is asked to nominate 6 players if playing in a Premiership Club and 3 players if from a Division 1 club. Those player will be invited to attend the dates below to trial, representing their club and given the chance to play Midlands Rugby League Representative Rugby.

This year's Carnival will be hosted at Oxford RFC bringing together regional teams across the Midlands, London, East and West. Southern England Lionhearts Rugby League coaches will attend the Carnival itself and from there will select players they will take forward to represent the Southern England Lionhearts.

This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase talent in the Midlands and we urge all clubs to get behind the programme to enable the sport to continue thriving.

📢As we are getting closer to the start of regional trials and this year’s games. We are looking for sponsors to help support the team.

Looking ahead to the regional trials in September.

With both the Midlands Premier and Merit Rugby League well underway we have already set in motion a pathway for current players to have the opportunity to represent their clubs and the Midlands region. Following on from there and after the success of last years regional games there are further opportunities for players who excel to go on to represent the Southern England Lionhearts Rugby League and Don the England Jersey. We may only be 5 weeks in to this season however we are on the look out to put together a squad that will ultimately showcase all the Midlands has to offer and to increase the number of clubs and players who show dedication throughout the whole of this years campaign . 🦁❤️🏉
