“How many abs do you do a day?”
Honestly? Not many. Some days, none. 🤷‍♀️
For a strong core and flatter-looking stomach, I focus much more on deep core engagement than endless crunches and ab exercises.
Learning how to engage your deep core means creating strength and stability from the inside out. It supports your posture, improves control and makes pretty much every movement you do work harder without needing 100 ab reps a day.
Pilates, yoga, handstands, balances, slow transitions… my core is working ALL the time. The difference is, I’m not always “doing abs”.
Less repetition. More intention. Better engagement.
That’s the kind of core work I’m interested in. ✨

Why are some people naturally more flexible than others? And why can two people follow the same flexibility routine and get completely different results?

Because flexibility is NOT just about stretching more or working harder.

Your flexibility and range of motion are influenced by much more than how often you stretch:

✨ Your nervous system plays a role in how much range your body allows.
✨ Your stretch tolerance affects how comfortable you feel moving into deeper positions.
✨ Your movement history matters. Years of gymnastics, dance, yoga, sport, strength training or even being sedentary can influence how your body moves today.
✨ Your individual anatomy affects the positions available to you.
✨ Your connective tissue can also influence your flexibility and mobility.

So when you see someone drop effortlessly into a split, fold completely forward or move through a huge range of motion, remember:

You are not starting with the same body.

And doing MORE stretching isn’t automatically the answer.

If you want to improve flexibility, work with your body rather than constantly comparing it with somebody else’s.

Build strength through your range.
Explore mobility.
Improve your stretch tolerance gradually.
Give your nervous system time to feel safe in new ranges.
And stay consistent.

Your body has its own history, potential and anatomy.

Stop comparing.
Start discovering what YOUR body can do. 🤍

Save this for the next time someone else’s flexibility makes you question your own progress.

5 exercises. 5 minutes. One resistance band. One Open Gate Pose.
Not that scary, right? 😏
This little Gygalates sequence works your core, waist, arms and shoulders without needing to rush through a million exercises.
The challenge? Staying controlled.
Hold the shape. Keep the core switched on. Create resistance through the band. Move slowly enough that your body has nowhere to hide.
That’s the Gygalates way: gymnastics foundations + yoga + Pilates, with less momentum and more intention.
Save this one and try all 5 exercises for 1 minute each. 🔥
