When life hands you lemons...just add water! 🍋 This week was a curveball - here's how I got from the 1st pic to the 2nd, with a whole lot of chaos in between.
I jokingly took the first photo after setting up class on Tuesday. I was in a world of pain, this was the only position I was comfortable in, and I was contemplating how effective it would be to teach the entire session face down on the mat. 🤪
Fast forward a few hours and my GP had sent me directly to the emergency surgery unit at the John Radcliffe, where I was then transferred to plastic surgery. 🏥
Not exactly the week I had planned, and quite frankly, an utterly dramatic reaction by my body to what they are assuming was an infected insect bite. A dose of antibiotics hadn't worked & a dose of bad luck meant that it turned into a deep and large abcess in a matter of days. 🙄
Here's the thing. I talk about the importance of recovery all the time. But as someone whose entire career is built on movement, not being able to move has been tough. 😬
I also know that being fit isn't just what happens during your workouts, it's what happens in the space between. So I'm following my own advice and nailing recovery in the same way I would a workout plan - fully committed 👊
Plenty of rest. Staying hydrated (water with life's lemons 😉). Nourishing my body with foods that heal. Breathwork, grounding, & visualising how amazingly resilient our bodies are when we allow them to be. And because Ive allowed myself some time to do that, I'm feeling great. 👌
Sure, a little battered and bruised. I've had better weeks. But Im healthy and I trust my body to do what it needs to do. 🫶
Plus, now I have a great story to tell about how I got plastic surgery on my 🍑 (it was actually my thigh, but butt makes for a way better story) 😝
