A little love for your bike chain goes a long way!

Your chain is one of the hardest-working parts of your bike, so keeping it clean and well looked after can make a real difference to how smoothly your bike rides

Here are a few simple ways to keep your chain happy:

🧽 Keep it clean – Dirt and grit can act like sandpaper, wearing your chain and drivetrain down

💧 Lubricate regularly – Apply a good quality bike chain lubricant, especially after riding in wet conditions. Remember, a little goes a long way!

🧹 Wipe away the excess – Once you've applied your l**e, give the chain a wipe with a clean cloth. You want the lubricant on the moving parts, not collecting more dirt on the outside

🌧️ Don't ignore wet rides – If you've been out in the rain, dry your chain when you get home and give it some attention to help prevent rust

👀 Check for wear – A worn chain can start to affect your cassette and chainrings too, potentially turning a relatively simple job into a much bigger one

And if you're not sure whether your chain needs some TLC, pop in and let us take a look

Look after your chain and it'll help keep you rolling smoothly!

Hello September! 🍂

There’s something about 1st September that feels like a fresh start. The mornings are getting a little crisper, the evenings a little shorter, and suddenly we’re thinking about getting back into our routines

But September is actually a brilliant month for cycling! 🚴‍♀️ The roads are often quieter, the temperatures are more comfortable, and there’s still plenty of daylight to get out and enjoy a ride

Whether you’re commuting, heading out for a weekend adventure, getting the kids back on their bikes after the holidays, or simply fancy exploring a few new lanes, September is a great time to keep those wheels turning

And if your bike has spent a little too much time sitting around over the summer, now is the perfect time to give it some love. 🔧🚲 A quick check-up now could save you from an unwanted roadside surprise later!

New month. New adventures. Same love of bikes

Pop in and see us — we’re always happy to help keep you and your bike rolling

DID YOU KNOW? 🚲🤔
The first bicycle didn’t even have pedals!
The “Draisine”, invented in 1817, was basically a wooden bike that you pushed along with your feet — a little like a grown-up balance bike! 😄
It might look a bit strange to us now, but it was the beginning of a journey that eventually gave us everything from road bikes and mountain bikes to e-bikes and those wonderfully practical bikes with baskets on the front. Over 200 years later, the basic idea is still the same…

Two wheels + a little push = freedom!

And thankfully, bikes have come a long way since 1817

Need a little help with your two-wheeled companion? Pop in and see us — we’re always happy to help keep you rolling!

There have been some amazing sunsets this summer

Those evenings when the sky puts on a proper show, the roads are quieter and it’s just too tempting to jump on the bike and head out for a ride

Whether you’re enjoying a leisurely spin along the lanes, heading out for a bit of exploring, or simply making the most of these long summer evenings, there’s something pretty special about seeing the countryside on two wheels

And if your bike is feeling a little less than summer-ready, you know where we are! 😜🔧
Pop in and see us, your local independent bike shop — we’re always happy to help get you back out there enjoying the ride

This weekend, Horam will once again be welcoming riders from around the world for the Beachy Head World Championship Penny Farthing Hill Climb Time Trial!

On Saturday, the social ride sets off at 10am from Cadence Café on the Cuckoo Trail, taking in Heathfield, Waldron, Chiddingly, Ripe and a well-earned stop at The Gun Brewery Taproom

So, if you're out and about and find yourself behind a parade of penny farthings on the country lanes... don't panic! They may not break any land speed records, but they will certainly make you smile. Give them plenty of space, a friendly wave, and enjoy a little piece of cycling history rolling through our local roads

And if all those vintage bikes inspire you to dust off your own trusty steed (thankfully with gears and proper brakes!), you know where to find us. Whether your bike needs a quick check-over or a full service, we're always happy to help

Who's hoping to spot the penny farthings this weekend?

There's a certain kind of magic in a small cycle workshop - nothing fancy, just the honest mix of chain oil, conversation, and the satisfaction of getting things working again

Here at Cycle Revival in Heathfield, bikes roll in from all sorts of days; muddy after a weekend trail ride, sandy from a trip to the coast, or just tired from the commute. Each one shows up with a bit of personality. We check the bolts that rattled loose, patch the punctures that ruined your morning, and sort out the gears that decided to argue with you halfway up a hill

We're not trying to be anything grand, we're just here to keep your bike running well, so you can get back to riding without the squeaks, wobbles, or mystery noises

If your bike's acting up, bring it in, we'll fix it, no fuss

Sometimes it's the little things that can make or break a ride

We were delighted to receive this review from a customer who was cycling from London to Paris when a mudguard suffered a mechanical 🚴🇬🇧➡️🇫🇷

A quick stop at Cycle Revival, a simple repair, and they were back on their way—no fuss, no charge, just helping a fellow cyclist keep their adventure going

Reviews like this mean the world to us. Whether it's a major repair, a last-minute fix, or just some friendly advice, we're always happy to help where we can

If your bike has started making a noise that can only be described as “angry shopping trolley”, this is your sign to visit your friendly local cycle shop

We fix punctures, squeaky brakes, mystery rattles, and the occasional bike that’s been stored in the shed since the last heatwave

Pop in for a repair, a coffee, or just a chat about why this will definitely be the year you ride more. We’ll believe you. Promise. 😉

Thanks for keeping it local and supporting an independent shop — you’re the reason the kettle’s always on and the track pump is never where we left it

Summer is here – let's make the most of it! 🚴

There's nothing quite like getting out on your bike on a sunny day

Whether you're heading out for a family ride, meeting friends for a café stop, or chasing a new personal best, here are a few tips to help you enjoy every mile:

💧 Bring plenty of water and keep sipping throughout your ride

🧴 Pop on some sunscreen – even when it's a little cloudy

🚲 Give your bike a quick once-over before you head out. Check your tyres, brakes and chain

🛠️ Pack the basics – a spare tube, pump and multi-tool can turn a potential walk home into a five-minute fix

🌤️ Keep an eye on the forecast – we all know how quickly the weather can change!

😊 Most importantly... slow down every now and then. Take in the views, stop for coffee and cake, and enjoy the ride. Cycling is about making memories as much as it is covering miles

If your bike could do with a little TLC before your next adventure, pop into the shop for a friendly check-over. Whether it's a quick adjustment, a full service or just some advice, we're always happy to help

Have a fantastic summer, and if you're out riding this coming weekend, let us know where you're heading in the comments! 🚴☀️
