Part Two

Yesterday was a great success but its NOT finished.

Owing to a downpour later on yesterday we still have a semi final and final to play, this is starting at 11:30.

We then of course have part two of the Bank Holiday weekend with the HCC Over 40's V's HCC FC Over 40's.

Organisers have given an assurance that this Sunday’s (30 August) annual double wicket celebration in memory of Park Drive favourite Ian Jackson will continue regardless of the weather.

Every year cricketers come together at Hartlepool’s Park Drive ground to compete against each other in teams of two for the coveted Ian Jackson Memorial Double Wicket Trophy.

The double wicket competition is scheduled to start at 12noon with a host of other events including live music throughout the day.

Ian’s wife, Louise Jackson said: “The forecast for Sunday doesn’t look brilliant and if the double wicket competition is affected by the weather, we have a Plan B.

“There will be music and live bands in the clubhouse from 3pm and the day will continue as normal with an 11pm finish.

“A lot of effort has gone in to mark the 10th anniversary of Ian’s passing whilst raising vital funds for the local hospice and we won’t let a bit of rain halt the proceedings.”

There will be music from local DJ Les Watts with entertainment from local band Guess and Park Drive’s very own, Brad Frank.

There will be fundraising throughout the day, including a raffle and auction of sporting memorabilia plus a barbecue.

Admission is free, the bar will be open, and all are welcome.

A bumper weekend is expected at Park Drive as the following day - Monday 31 August - Hartlepool Cricket Club’s Over 40s football team will take on Hartlepool Cricket Club’s Over 40s cricket team in a 20-over charity cricket match with all proceeds again going to Alice House Hospice.

Owing to expected weather forecast for tomorrow we've taken the decision to unfortunately cancel tomorrow's family fun day.

We appreciate this is disappointing but we felt this was the sensible decision under the circumstances.

We're hoping to rearrange this for an alternative date in September so please watch this space.
