Fantastic day on Saturday as our juniors and masters squads came together to embark on the 23km round trip to the NewcastleGateshead Quayside for the infamous Bridges Row.

We had singles, double, quads, octuples and eights, surrounded by our brilliant gang of launch boats keeping an eye out that everyone was ok.

Passing under those seven bridges and seeing our city from the water is always a pretty special experience and one we love to do together as a club once in a while.

And of course after all that work and calories burnt, a bbq back at the club was welcome and a lovely summer social ☀️🍔

Wrapping up another epic year of racing at and we were delighted to hear Tyne United getting a shout out on the event coverage thanks to one of our master’s squad members Steve.

And his message was a fantastic reminder of exactly why it is so important that as grassroots sports club we engage with our local schools and encourage the next generation to give our sport a go.

From an indoor rowing competition with school, Steve’s son Dan fell in love with rowing and spent his junior years training with our club.
He’s now in the bow seat of team GBs men’s coxless four, the current world champions.

What a brilliant weekend at the regatta!
As always seems to be the case when we head down to Teesside, the sun shone and both our juniors and masters crews were collecting trophies like they were going out of fashion!

What a week for our Tyne United juniors!
The squad had a fabulous day at Nottingham last Saturday for the Juniors Inter-Regional Regatta (JIRR)

The weather was exactly what you want for a regatta day, and the racing was very competitive.
Both crews competed in the C finals, and for many of the juniors it was their first time racing at this type of event, so a brilliant experience and lots of learning.

And it was a particularly brilliant day for James in his single, who won in the AR B final! 🥇

The gang were all representing the Northern region at the event, which came third overall. Great effort from all northern crews involved.

Well done to all the rowers, and big thanks to coaches and parents for supporting

From the Tyne to the Thames!
We had two masters crews venture down to the big smoke to compete in the

Both crews had a brilliant day racing, with our women’s crew coming 5th out of 10 in the category, and our men’s crew 7th out of 10.

And all celebrating with a well deserved pint after. It’s always great to take our club on tour and experience rowing on some of the country’s other great rivers.
